.@samlansky has such a wondrous way with words, and I’ve loved reading his pieces for over a decade. If you’ve ever been around him, you know he’s just the best type of person: Curious. Interested. Hilarious. Intriguing and intrigued. I have tRuSt iSSueS when it comes to interviews but I couldn’t be happier that I did this one with him. I was blown away to see quotes from people I adore and admire like Stevie Nicks, Greta Gerwig, Shonda Rhimes, Phoebe Bridgers, Natalie Maines, Kenny Chesney, and Lucian Grainge. I was so happy he spoke to fans Madison and McCall who were so eloquent, loyal, and kind. I’m really reflecting on this year, and all the years that led up to it. Can’t say thank you enough times. 🥲

Yesterday, I had the opportunity to travel to the Texas State Capitol to speak with the Senate about SB 1285, which would enact screening for congenital CMV in Texas. It was a privilege to represent TAA and serve as a voice for my patients and my profession on the Senate floor.
I am hopeful that this bill will pass soon. CMV is the leading cause of non-genetic childhood hearing loss and screening for CMV at birth would help us identify these patients earlier to provide them with better support. #audpeeps #audiology

Today is International Cochlear Implant Day! 🦻Last year, Texas Hearing Institute saw 29 patients for their initial cochlear implant activation and activated a total of 45 ears.
Cochlear implants are devices that allow individuals to hear speech and environmental sounds when hearing aids are unable to provide enough power to hear all the sounds of speech. After using EPIC for years I now put *** on documents and notes when I need to signal to myself or others that something isn't complete or needs to be inserted.
I can't be the only one, right? I am sure there is a term for this.
I've been experiencing constant aural fullness, muffled hearing, and constant tinnitus in one of my ears since I flew back to Houston Monday and I'm about to lose my mind. Is it time to see an ENT? Any suggestions on clearing this up on my own?

15-year-old Kamila Orlandi had her cochlear implants activated at Texas Hearing Institute when she was 8. Since then, she has won the Academic Excellence Award for straight A's and is an AAU national champion for taekwondo.
We are all proud of Kamila's accomplishments so far!💙
I don't want to pretend things are always sunshine and rainbows (they're not), but I leave appointments with a smile on my face at least once a day.
