📝 @documentcloud, a @MuckRock project, is a platform used by newsrooms worldwide that hosts over 11+ million key public interest documents. Documents like the CIA CREST database, a historical trove of 13 million pages. Since 2022, MuckRock has been working with @FFDWeb to create a more resilient system to preserve these documents and to protect them from increasingly serious threats to public access. Now, any journalist that uploads to DocumentCloud can also send a copy to the @Filecoin network. Over 750,000 documents have been stored on @Filecoin network via DocumentCloud, including the CIA CREST database. @Filecoin and @IPFS provide the backbone for this important preservation effort. With the data stored on Filecoin, MuckRock, alongside @TheoriqAI, is exploring how years of declassified CIA documents can be made more accessible with the help of an AI agent, enabling natural language queries to search the Filecoin network database.
