Those are some numbers, @nitinwelde. Kudos. However, I feel that our Heli sector isn't involved much in MedEvac situations in our mountains. Trekkers/operators in Indian Himalayas don't seem to look at this option compared to say, Nepal. Right ? Geography? system? Economics?
- 23 birds x 2.5 circuits (on an average )x6 pax each. That is around 300 Yatris inducted into the valley today. It also means around 1500 Yatris in rotation from one dham to next. - Add to this 8 Kedar shuttle helicopters which fly almost 72 total hours daily. ( among 8 of them) Each hour average 25 Yatris up and 25 Yatri down. That is 3600 total (up and down)per day by all shuttle helicopters. - For all this to happen safely and smoothly we need pilots , engineers , technicians, ground handlers , commercial crew, drivers, hotel staff etc etc. All working tirelessly from 0400 to 1800 each day for almost 45 days at a stretch. - I am reasonably convinced that no where in the world will we see such kind of concentrated operations in an area of 90 nms x 40 nms. - The Indian Helicopter industry surely deserves much more attention than it possibly gets. - There has been a marked improvement in recent years but there is a lot of work pending. I am not only hopeful but confident that the industry will have rapid growth in coming years. Jai Shree Kedar Jai Badri Vishal @MoCA_GoI @RamMNK @DGCAIndia @PMOIndia

Wonderful initiative, Thanks to Dr Navin Shah. Compared to IITs such philanthropy by an alumnus is rare in medical field.

The blanket ban on re-using single use medical devices addresses a symptom rather than the actual problem - hospitals overcharging for resterilized equipment. Modern sterilization technologies have long made this practice safe and effective. In fact, top tier government hospitals and premier institutes used it to subsidize care, distributing the equipment cost across multiple patients. Ethically managed centers took explicit consent beforehand, reserving new devices for those who requested them. By removing this option entirely, the government hasn't protected patients. It has taken away their autonomy and made essential medical care significantly more expensive. The only real winners here are the medical device manufacturers.
Union Health Ministry Issues Advisory Prohibiting Reuse of Single-Use Medical Devices The Union Health Ministry has issued an important advisory prohibiting the reuse of single-use medical devices and disposable surgical items in hospitals across India. @MoHFW_INDIA

Recently noticed heavy blooming of Saptaparni in and around Balewadi High Street, Pune. How to recognise the "Saptaparni"? You can't miss the floral fragrance of the bloom. It's exactly like "Vekhand" (वेखंड). Both are botanically unrelated. But when Saptaparni blooms in the evening, the dense combination of its floral linalool compounds, mixed with its heavy, spicy, and green undertones, perfectly mimics the sharp, sweet, and earthy-pungent aroma that you get when scraping or crushing a piece of Vekhand root.
Fragrant walks! Currently, in #Pune, most Alstonia ( Saptaparni) and Millingtonia (Buccha) trees are in full bloom. By late evening, we can enjoy their varying sweet fragrance . Evening walks become all the more enjoyable. Don't miss this Nature's treat!

Those who missed registering for @TataMumMarathon and still wish to participate, kindly do consider supporting @TataMemorial . Details in the QT.
Every day at Tata Memorial Hospital @TataMemorial, we see patients facing their cancer with incredible courage. But for many families, the struggle goes beyond the disease — the cost of treatment and just getting by can be overwhelming. This Tata Mumbai Marathon @TataMumMarathon, I’m asking you to join me in doing something about it. You don’t have to run a marathon to make a difference. A donation, however small, can help a patient who really needs it. Let’s come together to make sure that no one has to give up because they can’t afford treatment for their cancer. Please contribute, share this post, and help us reach more people. Every bit counts. ❤️ To contribute to the cause, please click the link here: unitedwaymumbai.org/fundrais… #TataMumbaiMarathon #TataMemorialHospital

A friend had a serious cycling accident recently, and his Garmin watch automatically sent an incident detection alert to his wife and son. Without it, they wouldn't have known something was wrong. It got me thinking: 1. How many Garmin users actually know this feature exists? 2. How many have actually set it up and turned it on? If you wear a Garmin, check your settings under Safety & Tracking -> Incident Detection and add emergency contacts today. It could literally save a life.

Nice list ! Now let's focus on the faculty positions. How many colleges out of these can boast of having full roster of faculties for each and every department of the medical college ?
1. AFMC 2. BJGMC 3. BV 4. DYP 5. MIMER 6. SKN 7. ABV 8. SYMBI And now 9. ESIC Good number. Thousands of free beds. And near free medical facilities for hundreds of thousands every year. Looks absolutely amazing (on paper).

High time media understands the choice of their words.
It is NOT "doctors could not revive him". It is "in spite of 45 min of CPR and other efforts, his heart remained non functional and finally he was declared dead." Not nit picking here. Your choice of words points a finger to the cause.

Spot on! At a recently concluded conference the AI generated slides looked too busy & complex to me. The thought process of the speaker didn't match the slide and it became difficult to follow the text.
A small request for conference season: please stop letting Claude design all your slides. We can tell. They all look the same.

Exactly why it gets opposed. Absolutely poor track record AFA the transplantation, compensatory plantation and seven year maintenance is concerned, even if we leave aside doubts about the intentions behind it. OTOH Common man and pvt entities faces beauracracy and harassment.
If you live around Kothrud, you know the traffic situation doesn’t need much explanation. So seeing the entire DP road discussion reduced to trees will be cut is honestly missing a pretty important part. The official tree permission says 467 trees are affected.. only 149 for removal and 318 for transplantation. On top of that, there is a requirement for thousands of compensatory trees, with geo-tagging and seven years of maintenance. So let’s have a serious conversation about execution, connectivity and green cover rather than turning a complicated urban-planning issue into a one-line trees cut narrative. freepressjournal.in/pune/pun…
