Only 1,000 Doma OG Punks are reserved for early supporters. And I just added #189 to my collection.
But after researching @domapunks, I realized the interesting part isn't even the NFT itself.
Doma Punks is a community project built by @hodl_pcc, a Senior Blockchain Engineer at D3, around a fractionalized domain on @domaprotocol.
Inspired by CryptoPunks and Nouns DAO, it combines onchain pixel art, daily auctions and actual utility for domain tokens.
Here's what makes it interesting:
1. OG allocation
The first 1,000 Punks are reserved for eligible Doma users, with one claim per qualifying wallet. Each comes with a special Doma OG badge.
2. Daily auctions
One additional Punk is auctioned every day, with auctions closing at 00:00 UTC. This gives collectors another way to participate beyond the original OG allocation.
3. Domain token utility
This is my favorite part. The fractionalized domapunks.com domain has its own token, which is used for NFT claims and auction bids. Even USDC payments are swapped into the domain token.
4. Fully onchain NFTs
Both artwork and metadata are generated and stored onchain. The roadmap also includes an NFT marketplace powered by the domain token and future community governance.
Now, back to my Punk.
I picked up Doma OG #189, currently ranked #89 out of 283 minted. Blue chalk background, round glasses and a backwards cap. Not the rarest, but I actually like this combination.
The rarity ranking can change as more NFTs are minted.
What interests me most is seeing tokenized domains used for something beyond speculation. Doma Punks is a small but interesting example of DomainFi in action.
No guaranteed airdrops or price predictions. Just an ecosystem I'm genuinely interested in exploring.
