crazy that an industry professional can say "i watched this person work on this piece live for months" and people will still insist it's AI. yall are lost
Replying to @morc_orc @chainsawroll
I watched her paint this in a discord server over the course of months. I even did a redline for it in september of 2023 to help with the cleavage. This is her sep '23 wip and the redline I did at the time. It is simply not AI.

I am staunchly against gen ai and would never use it for my art. I even lost a steady job this year because the pushed everyone into using AI and I refused at significant financial harm. I hope this timelapse helps you understand I do not use AI.

I’ve heard insanely good things about this game via the playtesters posting about it, and they basically ended up shadowdropping a 100+ hour Pokemon RPG? Insane
Go try it out y’all!

TATE EXTRADITION: US GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS UK REQUEST
The US Government has now formally asked the court to grant the UK's request for Andrew Tate's extradition.
In a 57-page filing earlier this week, US prosecutors argue that the evidence submitted by the UK establishes probable cause in support of all 39 offences for which his extradition is sought.
Importantly, they say the case does not rest simply on the accounts of the women who have accused him.
The DOJ points to communications, witness evidence, travel records and banking records which it says independently corroborate their accounts.
There has been a sustained attempt by Tate's supporters to portray the UK case as little more than allegations made by women years after the events.
The DOJ filing presents a very different picture.
The court has yet to decide whether Tate should be extradited. The hearing on 19 November will determine whether the legal requirements for extradition are met, not whether he is guilty.
But we can now see more clearly the evidence the US Government says supports the UK's request — and the case for extradition Tate will have to answer on 19 November.
Andrew Tate is entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence. But due process also matters for the women who have accused him. They have waited years for the opportunity to have their allegations heard and tested in court.
This. AI companies are making people pay to supersaturate themselves into poverty.
Flooding the market with a glut of "now I can afford to make my game" games means that revenue drops for all contenders. There's no $200k waiting for this person. 10x the number of devs jump in the pool - that's $20k now.
So $30k in the hole.
It's a grift, people. The companies selling AI software generated output (code and assets) make money. The companies that control distribution make money. Scraps and dust for the rest of us.
Ultimately - why would the corporations controlling distribution even need any of us? AI proponents insist that it will get better and better and easier to use. Is that true? Then what? Semi-automated generation of media straight from the distributors?

Tim's making a really important point here and I think people fundamentally misunderstand it.
Let's paint a scenario. You are an indie developer and you want to make a game.
Traditional game development will take you 1 year and cost you $200,000 in outsourcing costs to buy art, animation, and additional programming resources.
AI assisted game development will take you 3 months and cost you $50,000 in credits + some additional resources.
In a good scenario your game could make $200,000 and break even, but in many scenarios you mortgage your house and no one sees your game and you are out your savings.
Now, with the anti-AI mania, Valve is forcing real economic harm on you because you get the equivalent of hate mobs at your door for your choice of tooling.
Your economic viability is harmed because Valve chooses to put a label on you that generates negative attention. It makes your economics worse.
Anti-AI proponents will point out that this proves their hate campaigns work. The appeal is not to them, because they are morons, but to developers to stand up to Valve and say remove these labels so that we can have livelihoods. And Valve makes money of you either way.
Stand up for your rights, devs!

You want industry-level work you gotta pay industry prices, that’s how it is. Just because they post on social media doesn’t mean they’re not extremely qualified

sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”
