Currently reading @seananmcguire 's The Innocent Sleep. Non-spoilery thoughts follow. 1. If I had to fall 3 books behind, these last three (of which this one's the third) are the right ones to read back to back to back. 1/?

2. For The Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation fans, at the beginning of Be the Serpent, @seananmcguire has reached peak Jin Ling's Uncle. I find this glorious (says the gm whose thing is tangling PCs and NPCs in one family tree). 2/?

3. Have started @seananmcguire 's The Innocent Sleep, and realized 28 pages in -- and this is NOT a spoiler, just a realization -- yes, Dianda is dangerous, obviously, but... Patrick? Patrick is effin' dangerous. 3/3

This is why good physical bookstores rock. I went to Kinokuniya to pick up Don't Call It Mystery 7-8 and naturally browsed the books. And I learned that @tjbentonwalker wrote a book I didn't know about (Alex Wise vs The End of the World).

Reminder as we wait for the 118th Congress to officially begin: clawing back funding for the IRS is high priority for House Republicans—because a defunded IRS means its easier for the ultra-rich and special interests to cheat taxes. washingtonpost.com/opinions/…

I don't like to use this account to talk outrage, so I've been mostly quiet about the #dnd5e situation the past few days; I've been way too pissed to say anything productive. I've finally settled enough, so, here's my🧵: why this is a disaster for everyone, WotC included.

“Everyone is getting sick a lot and increasingly many people are really sick all the time” is a bad way to live. We can’t just keep pretending this is normal.

What concerns me more than the height of peaks at this new point in SARS-CoV-2 variant evolution is the non-low of the troughs. In fact, every Omicron *low* has been higher than the Delta *peak*. This means a sustained pressure on an already exhausted healthcare system.

PLEASE take precautions now. We're not exactly sure how XBB.1.5 will pan out, but because of the speed of increased hospitalizations in New York right now, we need to assume the same will happen in Eastern/Central Canada soon.
