Fill out this petition to tell @audubonsociety CEO @DrElizabethGray and the rest of our leadership to stop spending money on union busting and to bargain fairly with us instead actionnetwork.org/petitions/…
FYI if you’re giving your money to the National Audubon Society they’re spending it on this bullshit instead of paying people to do work that helps birds

Wow @audubonsociety just continues to embarrass itself. Their heinous management practices should really be a larger story in the bird community. So many of us support them (implicitly, financially, etc.), yet they are completely fucking over their workforce at every opportunity.
Congratulations to CEO @DrElizabethGray for getting @audubonsociety onto @NYCComptroller’s Employer Wall of Shame. Enough is enough. Let’s settle a fair contract once and for owl.

I love my job, coworkers, & landowners I work with. I 💯 believe what we do will make a difference in bird conservation. I don’t love that my employer would rather challenge the constitutionality of laws meant to protect workers than treat us with dignity and respect.

We’re tired of management withholding our raises and benefits and then calling us the undedicated ones. Who treats their employees like this?
The Earth Day 2020 layoffs at Audubon were awful. Management forced dozens of our colleagues to sign NDAs if they wanted to collect any severance. We organized our union quickly afterward and have been dealing with management dragging out the bargaining process ever since.

Recently listened to a research presentation that stated we are losing our grasslands to woody encroachment at the same rate we are losing them to development. Blew my mind.
Until recently, it seemed the iconic prairies of Chase County couldn’t possibly suffer the same fate as the MHK area. Satellite images revealed the sad truth. “We realized we weren’t immune to it,” rancher Daniel Mushrush said. “It was coming." kcur.org/news/2024-04-22/a-g… #ksleg

The Bird Union is fighting hard for us, and management is doing its best to keep us under a boot. There has not been enough news coverage of how bad (and in many ways illegal) Audubon is treating their employees. We’re stuck doing our own YouTube videos to detail our struggle.
At @audubonsociety, conservation science staff are some of our LOWEST-PAID workers. By design. Management says they’re worried about “market leading” or overpaying compared to other peers in conservation. 🙄 Listen to union member @CarrieEGray’s response youtu.be/oTNOveZmVwE

Not only have they withheld earned raises, but they are threatening that unless we sign an unfinished contract by March 1, our raises from last year will never be given.
Diana was laid off in 2020 by @AudubonSociety. When they returned to Audubon—now as a Bird Unionist—they knew they didn't only want to protect birds but the people who protect birds, too. Stand in solidarity with workers like Diana by signing this letter: actionnetwork.org/letters/bi…

Nearly two years into contract negotiations our union is stronger than ever. We, the overwhelming majority of members, have pledged our unwavering resolve for fair, reliable salary increases, and better, more affordable healthcare.

Audubon CEO @DrElizabethGray yanked back annual pay raises for union members last month right before the holidays. Now her office is hiring for an image consultant who may be paid up to $195,000/year Here’s some image advice for free, Dr. Gray: stop your union busting. Now.

.@DrElizabethGray, when will you stop union busting and negotiate a fair contract with @audubonsociety workers? Withholding our annual pay increases (during the *holidays* no less) is cruel and exploitative.

If you were at the @audubonsociety Leadership Conference in Estes Park this past weekend, you may have seen this Bird Union billboard truck calling on CEO @DrElizabethGray to get serious about negotiating a fair contract for Audubon workers 😏🦆🪶✊

Bird Union members earned our annual pay increases through our labor this past year. Audubon CEO @DrElizabethGray’s decision to yank these away (during the holidays no less) is a retaliatory and shameful attempt to bust the union while we negotiate our first contract.

While @audubonsociety CEO @DrElizabethGray is at #COP28, management has informed us that they will be giving annual raises this year to everyone EXCEPT for Bird Union employees.

There's been lots of awful union-busting this year, but Audubon ranks high on the list in my mind. Just disgraceful conduct from management at every point in the process. I would have happily donated before, but not now, and not until they treat the union as a partner.

Any of my wildlife peeps have a recommendation for a solid bird field guide for Cabo? Has anyone used/seen the one by Howell and Webb (A Guide to the Birds of Mexico and Northern Central America)? #birds #help #wildlife #travelingbirder
