Just a reminder that Jesus Christ was a poor brown-skinned immigrant that the MAGA crowd would call to be deported in current times.

It’s low key sickening how many armchair NTSB agents are out here reposting and analyzing a video of people dying.

What are your red flags for developers in the workplace (or an interview)? I’ll go first: typos in their code or comments. Short of a dyslexia diagnosis it shows a lack of attention to detail.

Clearly I’ve missed several days, maybe weeks. Wtf is vibe coding and why should I care?

Marker interfaces are a code smell. Prove me wrong.
57
I promise I’m going to ask you this simple OOP question in an interview: What’s the conceptual difference between a class and an interface? Hint: one of them having an implementation and the other not having an implementation is not a conceptual difference.

The follow-up question is usually: when should you use an abstract class and when should you use an interface?

Its posts like this that immediately make me tap the “show me less like this” option. Bait posts are dumb af.
frontend engineers make things look nice backend engineers make things work there's a reason one is more important than the other

I feel like 90% of the posts in the dev community are just baiting one group or another, and it has gone from kind of funny to awfully toxic. I just want pics of your cats laying across your keyboards, is that too much to ask?

Legit question: why are people on here enraged by tampons in men’s rooms right now? What did I miss?

I don’t see a FullYear.d.ts file in the repo…
React package for getFullYear.com by @ImSh4yy just shipped. 🚀 npm i react-full-year

Me in every code review.
In what situation would a kid need this?

I’ll take “Don’t Unnecessarily Reinvent the Wheel” for $500.
If you believe things like, “Why learn the sorting algorithm if there’s Array.sort()??” You told me everything I needed to know about you.

I was always taught that a function should only have a single return statement, e.g. don’t have returns for each case in a switch, even if it’s ultimately the behavior you want. Instead assign to a variable and return the value at the end. Anyone else?

Popularly unpopular opinion: we need more specialization and exchange in software development. The full-stack developer is a myth that we need to stop promoting.

Seeing the solution to this tells me only that a candidate knows how to solve this particular problem. As a hiring manager I’m far more interested in knowing how a candidate would approach this problem than I am in the solution.
i have a very simple question i ask during phone screens: print each level of a tree on a separate line. 90% of CS grad candidates just can't do it. someone needs to investigate these universities.
