We’re hiring! I’m looking for a bioinformatician or post-doc to work on large-scale single-cell data (>13,000 samples) to identify biological variables contributing to molecular variation.
Great opportunity working with a fun, talented team @GarvanInstitute.

Absolutely thrilled to receive this Data Insights grant with @drjosephpowell from @ChanZuckerberg! This will allow us to continue our work understanding contributions to variation in health and disease at single cell resolution.
Garvan researchers Dr Drew Neavin and Prof Joseph Powell have been awarded a prestigious Data Insights grant from @ChanZuckerberg. The funding will support their groundbreaking 18-month project, SNAPSHOT, aimed at understanding cellular variation in health and disease.
SCimilarity looks absolutely fascinating. I’ve always been a bit concerned about cell types missing from a selected reference dataset and leveraging many datasets with diverse cell types is a fantastic advancement. Keen to try it out on my next single-cell dataset!
Ever analyze a scRNAseq dataset and wonder if a specific cell state has been seen before? And if so, where in the human body? Under what conditions? Well, now you can use our lightning fast SCimilarity search and foundational model for that! ⚡️🔎🧬 biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… (1/11)
To all my fellow Americans out there, please remember and make time to have your opinions heard tomorrow by going to vote.
Very excited to be part of this conversation series hosted by @the_ASSCR alongside @cbazodi! Tune in for a discussion on stem cell ‘villages’ next Wednesday.
Join us for the next National Stem Cell Conversations Wed 3rd Aug at 11am AEDT featuring Dr Drew Neavin @drneavin @GarvanInstitute & Dr Christina Azodi @cbazodi @SVIResearch discussing “Functional annotation and population genomic studies in iPSCs".

I'm getting very excited about the @ISSCR annual meeting next week! I'll be attending in person so let me know if you're keen to connect.
Have you ever wondered which demultiplexing and doublet detection methods to apply to your single-0cell dataset? Wait no more! We've developed Demuxafy, an easy-to-use software platform to support method selection and execution for single-cell demultiplexing and doublet removal.
Introducing Demuxafy: Improvement in droplet assignment by integrating multiple single-cell demultiplexing and doublet detection methods. Work led by @drneavin as part of the sceQTL-gen consortium biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…
You can find this work described in our preprint (biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…) and instructions for running Demuxafy on our website: demultiplexing-doublet-detec…. Feedback, input and suggestions very welcome!
Big thanks to everyone who has contributed to this work including @senabouth, @aidarripoll, @THJimmyLee, Himanshi Arora @LudeFranke, @shyam_lab, @yimmieg, @davisjmcc, @m_hemberg, @marta_mele_m, @drjosephpowell and the single-cell eQTL consortium!
