It's been a LONG hiatus, but I am re-energized and ready to talk tech again. What's new that you'd like to talk about?

Q3: Getting to know Ss is more than gathering facts. True engagement is spurred when you tie their interests to learning. Showing them real application to knowledge gained. Show respect for their time and for the person they are. #buildrelationships #learnmeaningfully #BLinAction

Q2: I have good bag of starters, but my 1 favorite is when I assign "homework" for our programming a remote lesson. They have to go home & play video games then analyze what the buttons do. I've had to confirm with Ps that I assigned it. Ss. have fun while learning. #BLinAction

Curiosity is the powder keg for engagement. Takes one little spark to ignite the passion for learning!
A1: Student engagement = curiosity. It can look like thinking, asking, answering, discussing, wondering. #BLinAction
Q1: To me engagement looks like a buzzing room with conversation while accomplishing our daily mission. Often times I hear how you can't tell the beginning or end of my class if it weren't for the bell. We are investigating, discovering, learning etc. together. #BLinAction

It always ends up being the quickest time connecting with all of the awesome #BLinAction family! Thanks @CharityDodd for hosting this evening. I look forward to going back through the chats to see what I've missed! Have a great year everyone!

Such a great perspective! This is their time, might as well make the learning relevant and pointed to their needs. We can do this in a true learning community!
The key to building relationships is to ensure it's on the student's time and needs. Create activities that will allow you to observe interests and not solely ask them on a form. Students will gift you insights when they are ready, brave and start to feel safe #BLinAction

A3: My media class collaborates using what they know about electronics to put our streaming studio back together. Robotics and tech courses are tasked w/ completing a floor maze to figure out a pattern to make it through. Just a few ideas. #playtogetherlearntogether #blinaction
3
A2: Our getting-to-know-you exercises allow them to complete tasks by working together. We work on a maze activity, exploring classroom tools, even the first (ungraded) project is about collaboration and learning each other…and me. #buildingtrustspursengagement #blinaction
3
A1:My focus is community over content. I want to know what intrigues them about our class, learn how they learn, & get to know about what they bring to our class community. We do this by building our class syllabus together & team building. #engagementisrelatability #blinaction
