Sure, of course, the letters are not my entire identity. That’s massively reductive. But they’re not trivial, either. I will be the first PhD in my family of immigrants and descendants of slaves. And I will wear my letters as a badge of appreciation to those who paved the way.
Been hold with @Verizon @verizonfios for literally almost an hour. Haven’t even gotten to speak to a real person yet.
This is the third time having to call them over a 24hr period. I’ve spoken to 3 representatives over that time. All have given me completely different answers/instructions and nothing has been resolved. @Verizon @verizonfios

I am not the first Black woman senior scholar for the school to lose because of bad faith counteroffers. And I won’t be the last.
But I am so excited about heading to Denver, my new role @msudenver, and this next chapter of my professional career!
Go Runners!

My real estate agent's BROKER just called me at 9pm on a Friday to tell me that the seller doesn't want to sell a house to me because I am BLACK. This is after the inspection, contract agreement, down payment. Baby, I'm either buying your house or buying YOUR BLOCK. CHOOSE ONE.

We asked black students what they would like to see in curriculum that would better support them in their education and here are their answers. (thread 🧵)

Sharing the same identity as your participants is not a research limitation.
We as dissertation advisors have to do more to explain what limitations are.

Not a sociologist/ ASA member but shoutout to all the sociologists spreading a message of support for the Palestinian people and calling for an end to the oppression and occupation by endorsing @Soc4Pal’s resolution!

Good morning.
College is inaccessible. This is my epiphany today.
My daughter cried all night because her homegirl told her she can’t afford the housing deposit for college.
$250 dollars.
I paid it for her. It hurt but hell no. This girl ain’t giving up over $$

This is a start. It's unfortunate that an international group of Black women criminologists needed to call out @Jerry_Ratcliffe & @TempleUniv publicly for this apology. There has been a LOT that's happened at TU over the years that has made it hard for BlPOC students/Profs.
