hearing on 17 ebike bills is really going to make a difference when one of these murderous drivers was going 100mph
Three cyclists tragically died in hit-and-runs last week. I’m thinking of their loved ones, and I hope those responsible are found and held accountable. New Yorkers should be able to cross the street, walk down the sidewalk or ride a bike without fearing for their lives.  At our upcoming hearing, the Council will review a range of solutions to make our streets safer for everyone.  We need action now. nytimes.com/2026/08/23/nyreg…

the end goal has always been to destroy cycling/cycling infrastructure in NYC
There is nothing about adding a bike lane that makes an e-biker not speed, run red lights, leave scene of crash, ride on auto-pilot.The majority voices will soon drown out the Authoritarian, wealthy @TransAlt & corrupt @ShaunAbreu ‘cause THAT is what Democracy Looks Like!💜

congestion pricing is cheaper than a LIRR ticket, unfortunately
Tomorrow is Monday, and we will be heading into the first full week of the LIRR strike. Tens of thousands of working people from the boroughs and Long Island who depend on the railroad will now have to commute into the city without any adequate public transit. These people don't deserve to be further penalized because of a strike that they have nothing to do with. That's why I'm calling on Governor Hochul to suspend congestion pricing for the duration of the LIRR strike. It would be supremely unfair to pick the pockets of working New Yorkers who ordinarily depend on the LIRR for their commute, but now are left with no good options other than driving. And the MTA should not be making a windfall on the backs of working people as a result of their own failure to negotiate a contract with LIRR employees. This should not be a partisan issue and I hope other city and state officials will join me in demanding Governor Hochul suspend congestion pricing on an emergency basis until the LIRR strike is resolved and full service returns.

Car-free Freedom Drive! Organizers sent a letter to @NYCMayor, @NYCParks and @NYC_DOT urging them to reverse what they called a “regressive policy” and to “govern in line with the Mayor’s stated goal to make our streetscapes the ‘envy of the world.’” issuu.com/queenschronicle/do…

Where would the pros race if there was a Tour de France stage set in New York City, to get a real feel for being a NYC cyclist? @drvarg01 asked Leg Day subscribers at a recent watch party.

Zohran come on Leg Day!
Cross-endorsed mayoral candidates Brad Lander and Zohran Mamdani Citi Bike up Prospect Park West to a joint canvassing event. “It's a joyful form of politics, instead of a bitter, sour, backward looking form of politics,” Lander says about RCV.

The protected bike lane makes EVERYONE safer. Would the mayor prefer that people check the road for oncoming cyclists before crossing to the sidewalk, or be potentially flattened by a 2 ton car? Shameful and dangerous decision.
