Nigeria cannot be captured in a single frame. It is the Lagos skyline after dark, the ports connecting businesses to global markets, the factories of Ogun, the farms of Bauchi and the mountains of Obudu. It is also Nollywood, technology, fashion and Afrobeats-the sound of Nigeria reaching the world. 🇳🇬 On Independence Day, we celebrate Nigeria and its longstanding partnership with Afreximbank, built on a shared ambition to expand trade, strengthen productive capacity and create more value within Africa. Nigeria is a founding member and Afreximbank’s second-largest shareholder. Since the Bank’s establishment in 1993, more than US$40 billion has been approved in support of Nigerian public- and private-sector entities. This partnership is reflected in transformative institutions and investments. The Afreximbank African Trade Centre in Abuja is strengthening trade and investment connectivity, while the US$300-million African Medical Centre of Excellence @amceafrica is expanding access to world-class specialised healthcare. In March 2026, Afreximbank also underwrote US$2.5 billion of a US$4-billion syndicated facility for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery-supporting stronger regional energy security, industrial value chains and intra-African trade. Nigeria’s influence extends far beyond its physical exports. Its filmmakers, musicians, designers and technology entrepreneurs are taking African creativity to global markets. From 5–8 November 2026, Lagos will host @CanexAfrica CANEX WKND 2026, before returning to the continental trade spotlight as host of @iatf2027 IATF2027 from 5–11 November 2027. Today, we celebrate the people, places and industries powering Nigeria’s next chapter. How many Nigerian landmarks, cultural icons and industries can you recognise? 👀 Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬 #Afreximbank #Nigeria #IndependenceDay #AfricanTrade #Industrialisation #CANEXWKND2026 #IATF2027

Stumbled upon my old business card from my early days as a photocopier salesperson. It brought back memories of being a young, hungry sales rep, learning the fundamentals of resilience, negotiation, and grit. Those lessons have stayed with me over the years and continue to shape how I approach business and engage with customers today. It’s also a reminder that who you become tomorrow is often shaped by the foundation you lay today; the discipline, hard work, and consistency you put in when no one is watching. Keep showing up. Keep learning. Keep executing. As for the phone number and address on the card? Long gone 😂

Obong Idiong, a great man 🙌
Notable examples: Nigeria 1. Yomi Awobokun - EA to CEO of Oando Group, later COO of Oando downstream subsidiary, later CEO of Oando downstream, later founder of Enyo Retail 2. Alex Irune - was an EA to Group CEO of Oando, now CEO of Oando upstream and Group ED in Oando 3. There was a Kunle guy in Oando too (can't remember the surname again) that was EA to Group CEO and later became Head of Strategy in the downstream subsidiary 4. Obong Idiong (pictured) - Former EA to Tony Elumelu, later CEO of Africa Prudential Plc, now CEO of Heirs Technologies (both Elumelu companies) Outside Nigeria 5. Steve Ballmer - Joined Microsoft as assistant to CEO Bill Gates, rose to become CEO of Microsoft. 6. Ursula Burns - Worked as EA to Xerox executives, later become CEO of Xerox herself. 7. Mary Barra - EA to CEO of General Motors. She later became CEO herself. 8. Sam Palmisano - EA to CEO of IBM, later became CEO of IBM. EA or Chief of Staff to executives is a very good way to prepare people for leadership position. If you are good on the job, the executives notice you, trust you and that propels your career. The problem is, these days, people that are not even executives are hiring some virtual assistants (which is fine) but calling them executive assistant. You no be executive, why you dey call your admin assistant executive assistant? That is what the original poster may have been using as standard for executive assistant. Executive Assistant - proper one to a proper executive - is a top job. You know practically everything about the CEO's (or other executives') job!

On the sidelines of the United Nations Football for Mental Health event in New York, I had the pleasure of meeting Portuguese football legend Luís Figo at a dinner organized for FIFA Master Alumni. Moments like these reinforce the power of football to unite cultures, inspire collaboration, and advance meaningful global conversations beyond the pitch.

𝐀𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐫𝐞. 𝐀 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬. Today marks a defining milestone for UBA Group as Mr. Tony O. Elumelu, CFR sets to conclude his tenure as Chairman of UBA Group. We celebrate far more than years of distinguished leadership but an enduring institution deliberately built to thrive beyond any one individual. For decades, his leadership has shaped UBA into one of Africa's most respected financial institutions; expanding our footprint across the continent and beyond, connecting African businesses to global opportunities, and proving that an African institution can compete confidently on the world stage. From a Nigerian bank to Africa's Global Bank, UBA today serves millions across Africa and beyond, connecting people, businesses and economies through innovation, resilience and purpose. We express our deepest appreciation to Mr. Tony Elumelu for his extraordinary leadership, unwavering belief in Africa, and lasting contribution to UBA's remarkable journey. As we turn the page, we do so with confidence. The next chapter of UBA will continue to be guided by the same ambition that has shaped our story from the beginning: building Africa's leading financial institution, enabling trade and investment, empowering businesses and communities, and creating sustainable value across the continent and beyond. The institution endures. The vision continues. And the future has never looked brighter. #AfricasGlobalBank #Leadership #Africapitalism #BuildingAfrica #Legacy

The public visibility of genuinely successful, legitimate Black men is essential. When those who have achieved authentic success choose silence, they leave a cultural vacuum that is quickly monopolized to exploit the lack of real mentorship

One underdiscussed effect on Tony Elumelus visible social media brand is the the positive role modelling masculinity for young boys. He makes business, loving your kids/wife & philanthropy aspirational and cool.

I am honoured to succeed Senator Udoma as Chairman in January 2027 and to lead the Board through @SeplatEnergy ’s next phase of growth. I firmly believe in the critical role indigenous resources play in the economic transformation of Nigeria and Africa, and Seplat’s culture of execution and governance aligns strongly with my own values. I thank Senator Udoma and Roger for their stewardship and look forward to delivering further value for shareholders. I also congratulate Mr. Okon on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer. His deep industry experience gives me great confidence that @SeplatEnergy is well positioned for its next chapter of growth. #TOEWay

I really love the viral moment that stocks have been having over the last couple of days. Let me dig into the numbers. According to statistics, about 60 millionNigerians between the ages of 18 and 40 are involved in active sports betting. Proshare. Whereas, the Nigeria Stock Market has only 600,000 active accounts. Financial literacy needs to go mainstream. We need to make investing cool. It’s not going to happen overnight, it will require intentional educational and adoption.

Nigerian Police Force Microfinance Bank just dropped its Q1 2026 numbers and not a single loan went bad. Zero. Even with loans at 23.5% from a pool of ₦2.7bn to MSMEs, no defaults recorded. Are defaulters scared or they do something differently?
