“I’m fourth and I’m like over the moon.”
Very much used to winning World Cup races, @MikaelaShiffrin could hardly be more pleased with finishing fourth in the season opener, trying to become friends again with the GS ⬇️

Summer in Vienna but something always reminds one of the Alpine skiing season.

“Even in difficult moments, my answer never changed: I want to race again.”

#RolandGarros junior champion Lilli #Tagger draws inspiration from her idols @MikaelaShiffrin ("mentally I can learn a lot from her") and @lindseyvonn ("a legend, and therefore a huge inspiration") — who, on their turn, are both big tennis fans ⬇️

Some remarks:
▶️ #Sölden-#Levi-#Gurgl travel hassle remains
▶️ no home race for @MikaelaShiffrin in #Killington (gets new chairlift), but in #CopperMountain
▶️ no #Bormio & #Cortina (Olympics!)
▶️ #Semmering replaces #Lienz
▶️ just 2 weekends of racing outside 🇪🇺

It's a wrap — Zrinka #Ljutic 🇭🇷 and Henrik #Kristoffersen 🇳🇴 earn the last globes of 2024-25 🔮🔮
Remarkable: Both Mikaela #Shiffrin 🇺🇸 and Clément #Noël 🇫🇷 win 4⃣ slaloms this season, but both are not even in the top 3 of the final discipline standings.

“I’ve been knocked down so many times in my life personally, physically, mentally, beat down and I always pick myself back up.”
@lindseyvonn, 40, ends comeback season on podium — a testament to her strength and self-belief ⬇️

Said Ester #Ledecka 🇨🇿 after winning DH 🥉 at the ski world champs in February.
Today, Ledecka won parallel GS 🥇 at the snowboard worlds.
Wow!

Who needs what at the World Cup finals? 🤔
Here are the calculations of the two men's globes still to be confirmed.
See yesterday's posts for the four women's globes.

Who needs what at the World Cup finals? 🤔
Here are my calculations for the women's downhill and super-G globes.

And here for the women's giant slalom and slalom globes.
Calculations for the men's globes tomorrow — a bit less complicated, thanks to Marco #Odermatt... 😅
#SunValley #FISAlpine
The last bullet point for Alice #Robinson in giant slalom is obviously wrong. This should be:
· … if she finishes 16th or worse and Brignone does not finish 13th or better

“It’s still a big gap. So, he has to fail it a little bit and I have to do something very special like today.”
Loic #Meillard 🇨🇭 wins last SL before WC finals, closes gap to Henrik #Kristoffersen 🇳🇴 in SL standings to 47 points ⬇️

Marco #Odermatt didn’t win the race...
... but he did win two crystal globes 🔮🔮 and set a Swiss national record 🇨🇭 for most World Cup podiums ⬇️

“It’s crazy, and doing it here, at home, it’s even more crazy.”
Not officially yet, but safe to say Federica #Brignone has brought home her 2nd overall World Cup title by winning a super-G near her hometown in the Aosta Valley ⬇️
