I went for a job interview and happened to be the first candidate. After my interview, I came back outside.
I knew the other candidates were curious about the questions I had been asked, so when they stylishly asked, I told them everything.
I had a friend who was always excited whenever I called him to ask for a loan, especially during the period when I was seriously struggling financially. It was almost as if helping me was what God had called him to do.
She told me that he had been telling people I still owed him money, even though I had already paid back every loan he gave me. In fact, he had been keeping the money I sent him back and telling people I was only sending it because I knew I still owed him.
Some people genuinely don’t know how to read the room. They don’t know when to talk, when to keep quiet, when to make jokes, or when to give people space. Not everything needs your input, and not every moment is the right time for your energy.
Sometimes, you get to a point where you just want to try one last time before letting go.
It could be a business you have been struggling to grow, a job you have been trying to get, a goal you have been chasing for years, or a situation you have been hoping would get better.
So you try one more time, not because you are sure it will work, but because you want to know you did everything you could before walking away.
And when it still doesn’t work, you finally accept that you cannot keep doing the same thing and expect a different result.
The worst mistake I ever made was not being present when my wife delivered our first child. I had to travel for work, so l asked my younger brother to stay with us and help her with anything she needed while I was away.
But gradually, things began to change. She started recognising my face. She became comfortable with my voice, and one day, when I carried her, she looked up at me and smiled instead of crying. That smile nearly brought tears to my eyes.
