Interested in skeletal development? Biomineralization? Invertebrate body plans? Imaging? Then this three year postdoc @sotonbiosci is for you! There are still ~2 weeks left to apply. Details are here: jobs.soton.ac.uk/Vacancy.asp… and please reach out to me if you're interested!
Interested in morphological evolution? Functional morphology? Echinoderms? A dash of engineering? Then maybe this fully funded PhD through the INSPIRE DTP @OceanEarthUoS with me, @VirtualPalaeo, Jorn Cheney, and @EvoPalaeoLab is for you!
I am super thrilled to be starting a new job today as Lecturer in Evolutionary Developmental Biology @sotonbiosci and @OceanEarthUoS ! Watch this space for work unraveling the evolution of development and morphology with fossils and molecules! And lots of fun new collaborations!
Chris Lowe (@lab_lowe ) will then give the hemichordates and echinoderms some love with "Insights into early deuterostome evolution from adult body plan patterning of echinoderms and hemichordates"
Paola Oliveri will tell us about echinoderm gene regulatory networks that build skeleton, and how developmental biology informs evolution.
Liz Clark will then tell us about some of wild and weird animals in "The strangest animals that have ever existed”: The legacy of R.P.S. Jefferies and the future of stylophoran form and function" (though this isn't a picture of a stylophoran, I apologize).
Then Paschalia Kapli (@PKapli ) will be asking a crucial question for a deuterostomes meeting "Are deuterostomes monophyletic? "
Then we have Jenifer Croce speaking about "The sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus as a biological model to investigate echinoderm adult features" This one I'm personally particularly excited about!
Kicking off the day, check out Imran Rahman (@VirtualPalaeo) speaking about "A virtual world of echinoderms" Like this lovely Palaeozoic beast!
Only a week to go until registration closes!!! You can register for the meeting here up until April 12th: eventbrite.com/e/fossils-phy…
