Iconic!
Both of them are icons of journalism and broadcasting, who truly care.
Good souls who ask 'curious' questions, it was a dream ending of Echoes 2026 to hear Miriam O'Callaghan and Lorraine Kelly in conversation.

"And anything that happened to me afterwards, I never felt the same about again".
Sarah Binchy, Chris Morash and John O'Donnell discussed with Niall MacMonagle holding every word up to the light and how writing a short story isn't necessarily easier, just because it is shorter
Books beget books, stories beget stories
Pulling the thread on the past and 'trespassing' into the personal details of historical characters is something Martina Devlin (@DevlinMartina), Rory Carroll (@rorycarroll72) & Doireann Ní Ghriofa take great care with
Words cannot express our gratitude to Gráinne Dromgoole (@GrainneDromgool), who stepped into the breach to read Gordon Snell's, 'The King of Quizzical Island digs through the world', a book read to her as a child by none other than Gordon himself.
Delivered with such aplomb!
John Boyne (@JohnBoyne) was kind enough to treat us to a reading of an extract of his book, 'The Weight of Angels', which imagines the extra 53 year champagne lifestyle Oscar Wilde might have had, had he not sued the Marquess of Queensbury for criminal libel.

It would be a mistake to think of women's fiction as just cosy and light weight as these ladies can attest.
As women in life are strong & vulnerable and contain a multitude, so do the characters Faith Hogan, Vicki Notaro & Sinéad Crowley write about.

Ali White shared one part of a very human conversation about youth pregnancy from Maeve's "Echoes".

"Our lives are not shaped like stories but we can't help living them like they are"
Neil Hegarty (@nphegarty) lead a very interesting discussion with Dermot Bolger, Julia Kelly & Caitríona Lally(@CaitrionaLally) about writing inspired or drawn from life.

"T'is nowt but mirth that keeps us from the earth"
Few dry eyes in the house as Dominic Dromgoole, long-standing family friend of Gordon, paid tribute with insights and stories of Gordon, his life, & his insatiable appetite for finding joy in life.

In the first year of Echoes without Gordon, we are determined to keep our spirits up, as he would have wanted, so we are thrilled to have Leas Chathaoirleach, Councillor Mary Fayne opened the festival so warmly.

The engaging performance was followed by an illuminating discussion between the writer Elizabeth Moynihan & Professor Ian Robertson (@ihrobertson), delving into the Pandora's box of human experience to discover the Hope (hang on, pain ends).
A huge thank you to all in attendance
Rachael Dowling (@rachdowling1) & Sorcha Furlong (@sorcha_furlong) brought all the complex emotion of Elizabeth Moynihan's thought-provoking & very human play, 'Happiness Then' to the stage here tonight, as we begin the 2026 Festival.
Its light & depth were perfectly portrayed
Thrilled to be starting Echoes with Elizabeth Moynihan's captivating comedy drama, 'Happiness Then', starring Rachael Dowling (@rachdowling1, 'Kin') & Sorcha Furlong (@sorcha_furlong, 'Fair City')
