It’s getting increasingly difficult to have ownership over your days, goals, and desires. Distraction really is today’s poison the way infectious disease was a century ago. A plague of the soul as we fix the plagues of the body

the best times in my friendships are when i view my friends as entire universes to decipher and understand. playfulness, curiosity, wonder into who they are. instead of focusing on interaction, focusing on mapping them out. i've always been told i was easy to connect with, and i've had that less and less as i got busier and busier. when work overwhelms me, i tend to lose wonder for the details, which is what gives connection depth: the deep acknowledgment of the other's details. now if i don't act on it, all i think about is my company and therefore myself. it's incredibly grounding and unselfish to not rush conversations. i'm focusing on caring more about my sister's nail gel color: dark burgundy or red? i don't know let's think it through. my friend's argument with her boyfriend over house chores; can you hire help? how about you always do dishes and him the laundry? my dad's morning thoughts on which bank he should switch his secondary account to; i don't know dad, what are the interest rates? they matter so much. more than we realize, the mundane is intimacy

halloween is the proof we yearn to play dress-up. let's normalise showing up to the non-halloween function in survivorship bias costume because we felt like it

Positive affirmations to repeat in the morning: - I have a moat - I have a moat - I have a moat - I have a moat

i want to listen to smart people talk. all podcasts i try out seem to be 1. superficial - not thought provoking, 2. written by AI, 3. 90% yapping, 10% information. drop some recs

My greatest regrets have always been not doing the thing; not actions themselves. When I feel too scared to do something, I remember I’m more likely to regret restraint than failure. It’s given me delusional amounts of courage

Extraordinary people without extraordinary work are a waste of potential. Better to be dumb and maximized than smart and leaving meat on the bone. The trouble is you don’t know which you are until you truly give it your all. So for no other reason than curiosity, it’s worth seeing the violence you’re truly capable of when you burn the boats and go all in.

Stop trying to "lock in" and start seeing work as play. The results will follow.
