Bank Officer: “Sir, why did you withdraw the entire inheritance your father left you?”
Son: “Because I wanted to buy the family house before the bank auctioned it.”
Bank Officer: “But according to our records, your father never owned that property.”
Son: “What? My family has lived there for 32 years!”
The officer turned his computer towards him.
Bank Officer: “Your father used the property as collateral for a business loan. He defaulted, and the house was legally transferred to another owner.”
Son: “That's impossible. My father told us the loan was settled before he died.”
The officer opened another document.
Bank Officer: “The loan wasn't settled. However, someone has been making monthly payments on it for the past six years.”
The son looked confused.
Son: “Who?”
Bank Officer: “A woman named Grace. Do you know her?”
The son suddenly went quiet.
Son: “Grace was my father's housekeeper. She worked for us for almost 20 years.”
The officer checked another page.
Bank Officer: “There's something else. She has already paid 85% of the outstanding debt.”
Son: “Why would our housekeeper spend her money saving our house?”
The officer handed him an envelope.
Inside was a letter written by his late father.
It read:
"To my son, if you ever discover what Grace has done, don't repay her with money. Repay her with respect. Twenty years ago, when I lost everything, she sold the land her parents left her to keep this family together."........

Every Friday, a rich man visited a woman who sold roasted corn beside the road.
He never bought corn.

My cousin Nicholas came to stay with us. My blood cousin. My mom's sister's son. We grew up together in Atlanta.
He said he'd just gotten a new job in the city and needed a place to crash for two weeks, just until his apartment was ready.
I said, "Bro, my house is your house. You're my brother."
My wife, Jessica, smiled and said, "Yes, welcome. Make yourself at home."
Nicholas took the guest room.
The first week was fine. We ate together. We watched football. My kids called him "Uncle Nicholas," and he called them his nephews.
The second week, something changed.
Jessica started dressing differently at home. Short shorts. No bra. Perfume in the house, something she had never done before.
"Why are you wearing perfume at home?" I asked.
"For you! I want to look good for you!"
"For me? You never wore it for me before Nicholas got here."
"You're ungrateful! I try to look good and you question me? Are you serious right now?"
I let it go. I shouldn't have.
The kids were at school that Thursday. I left work early, around 3 PM. My wife's car was in the driveway. Nicholas's shoes were by the door. The house was quiet. Too quiet.
"Babe, I'm home!"
Nothing.
"Nicholas, you here?"
Still Nothing.
In the kitchen there were two plates and two wine glasses, still wet. Someone had just eaten.
I climbed the stairs. Our bedroom door was locked. Our bedroom door is never locked.
I knocked. "Babe, open the door."
Silence. Then her voice, high and panicked. "Oh! You're home early! Hold on! I'm changing!"
"Changing? With the door locked? At 3 PM?"
"Give me one minute!"
Then I heard a man's voice, whispering: "The bathroom. The bathroom!"
I knew that voice. I had known it all my life.
I kicked the door and it flew open.
Jessica stood there in a towel, hair messy, lipstick smeared.
And through the open bathroom door stood Nicholas, a towel around his waist, standing next to a shower that was not even running.
"Nicholas," I said. "What are you doing in my bathroom?"
"Bro... the guest shower is broken. I just came to use yours."
"I fixed that shower last week. I used it this morning."
"It broke again."
"Then why is my wife in a towel in our bedroom?"
"It's not what you think!" Jessica cried. "I was just giving him a towel!"
I looked at the bed. I had made it myself that morning. Now the sheets were twisted and the pillows were on the floor.
"I took a nap," she said quickly.
Then I saw it, next to the bed. An opened condom wrapper.
Nobody said anything. Jessica looked at the floor.
"That's old," she whispered. "That's from last week."
"We haven't touched each other in two weeks," I said. "Since he got here. Every night you had a headache."
Nicholas stepped toward the door, eyes down. "Bro, okay. I'll leave. I'm sorry. I'll just get my stuff and go."
"Where are you going?"
"I said I'll go."
"Stand right there. Look at me. Did you sleep with my wife?"
He tried to walk past me.
That was when I grabbed him.

Last night I had a really weird dream. I was trying to become immune to scorpion venom. 😭
In my dream, I had caught a poisonous creature and somehow discovered that its venom could paralyze someone instead of killing them instantly. I was trying to understand how it worked, and eventually I became confident that I could survive it too.
After that, I went into a swamp with my dog. The whole place was full of giant scorpions. I had a sword made of bone with me.
I saw a huge scorpion and actually let it attack me. It stung my leg, but nothing happened. I wasn't affected by the venom at all.
I picked up my sword and somehow defeated it. I thought everything was over, but then something much bigger appeared.
It was a giant scorpion. I mean, it was HUGE. The ground started shaking when it came out. It attacked me and threw me away.
I somehow managed to get underneath it and attack its belly, but then I noticed something crazy. Its damaged body was healing by itself.
At that point, I knew I couldn't fight this thing. I grabbed my dog and ran as fast as I could out of that place.
I still don't understand how my brain came up with giant scorpions, a swamp and a monster that could regenerate.
The funniest part is that I went there thinking I was immune to everything, but that scorpion king completely changed my plans. 💀
