We see Alicebt go from proud and savvy on the political realities to a feral ghost, trying to kill a child. And so on and so forth. It's a good, human story, without prophetical flourish, just the ugly misery of the human condition.

Not at all. There are few contradictions, mostly about minute details and different interpretations. But the core of the events is undisputed. The characters are well rounded, with variations depending on the roles of the story: Aegon and Rhaenyra are the best (+)
The story is finished in the books, we know all of the major events, where every character arc starts and ends, he had a full team of writers and GRRM's input to help him fill all the gaps and 2 years enough time to make every season, ppl overestimate how hard he had It actually
