Many studies seek to use #satellite_soil_moisture data as a low-cost solution to monitor agricultural water use. But does the satellite soil moisture observation truly contain the #irrigation signal?
In our recent paper,we have answered this question bit.ly/3AFwULQ

Iran is a signatory to the NPT. Israel isn't.
Iran has allowed IAEA inspectors into its country.
Israel doesn't."
But Israel's the victim?

Irrigated agriculture is vital for food security, but it consumes a lot of water and faces increasing water scarcity. How can we reduce irrigation water demands and improve farm income at the same time? We look at this question in our new paper: rdcu.be/dqpBk (1/7)

By using a similar idea to #SM2RAIN, Chinese colleagues have developed and approach for estimating evapotranspiration from soil moisture (SM2ET 🙂 ).
Here the paper just published at JoH X (open access):

I’m quite used to the cruelty students can face when they apply for a US visa but this one broke me. We offered admission to a stellar, talented & hardworking student. After months of work and hundreds of dollars, an embassy officer saw him for 5 mins & said no. why? …

Given how busy everyone is, it is super hard to find reviewers for journal article submissions these days. Please have the courtesy to suggest your junior colleagues before you reject a review request because you are swamped! #peerreview #service

📢🌾 Exciting news! 🎉 Our newly published paper reveals how complex human irrigation decisions can be modeled using the particle batch smoother (PBS) approach. 💡💦 Accurate irrigation estimation can be achieved by assimilating weekly #soil_moisture data! 🌱🔬 #Irrigation #DA

Hydropower can be increased within strict environmental constraints.
Global hydropower potential is 5.27 PWh yr−1, mostly in the Himalayas. Africa’s potential is 0.60 PWh yr−1, four times larger than its developed hydropower. nature.com/articles/s44221-0…

ALT National developed hydropower as a percentage of full profitable potential. The green areas represent countries in which hydropower development can be continued, the red areas represent countries whose developed hydropower exceeds the full profitable potential and the red hatched areas indicate countries whose developed hydropower exceeds the full feasible potential. The bar charts represent the full feasible, full profitable and developed hydropower (in TWh yr−1) of each continent.
