🇵🇱 Poland has been chosen to host Europe’s first PAC-3 missile maintenance facility — the only one of its kind outside the United States. The decision marks a significant milestone for Poland’s defense industry, following competition with Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway. Why is this important? → Faster maintenance: Currently, PAC-3 interceptors requiring servicing must be shipped to the United States, with turnaround times exceeding a year. The new facility could reduce this process to just a few months. → Stronger European defense capabilities: The facility will support not only Poland but also other European operators of the system, including Sweden. → Major investment: The project is valued at approximately PLN 1 billion, with operations expected to begin within the next 12–18 months. With ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East putting pressure on global interceptor supplies, strengthening Europe’s maintenance capabilities is becoming increasingly important. Polish officials also suggest that this investment could eventually pave the way for PAC-3 missile production in Poland. A strategic win for Poland — and potentially a significant step toward greater European defense independence.
