Rihanna talks about her new plans on her highly anticipated album ’R9’ “I actually had a whole plan to drop a project in February for the 10 year anniversary of ANTI. I had music I loved, ideas I was excited about, visuals I have imagined, it felt like the right moment. But then I had my daughter, after already having two boys, and that shifted everything for me. Becoming a girl mom gave me a whole new perspective. It made me rethink what I wanted to say, how I wanted the music to feel, what kind of world I’m building for her to grow up watching. So now I’m in this space where I kinda want to start over from scratch. Not throw away what I made, but approach it with the woman I am right now. It’s a different type of inspiration, a different type of strength. And I want the next album to come from that place. I’ve evolved and I want people to hear that in my music, a grown version of a Rihanna the world once knew before.”

Rihanna weighs in on the constant comparisons between ‘Love on the Brain’ and ‘Kiss It Better.’ They’re both emotional, they both hit heavy, and they both show different sides of me. But honestly? They’re not even in the same lane. ‘Love on the Brain’ is fun to perform because it’s raw and dramatic, it is one of my favourite songs to ever perform, but ‘Kiss It Better’ that’s a masterpiece to me. It’s smoother, sexier, more intentional. When I perform ‘Kiss It Better,’ I get so lost in it I almost forget I’m even on stage. That’s how good that song is, it just takes control over me. The production, the vocals, the vibe, everything just comes together in a way that feels special. What I did on that track can not be replicated.
