UFC has a guy nicknamed "Simba" and a guy nicknamed "Mufasa," both welterweights, both fighting on the same card, not fighting each other.

I’ll never forget when the rock bottom dumbest people in the sport tried to tell me MMA wasn’t right wing. You can’t believe that many people have severe mental handicaps, but alas, they do.

This second title run didn’t have a whole lot of meaning until now. What a massive win on Volk’s resume. Just an all-time MMA great we are witnessing. And I hate to admit it as an Aldo fan, but if you call him FW GOAT, I ain’t arguing.

when fighters are getting phone calls from bosses telling them, “If you keep wrestling like that, you’re going to get cut,” then you’re basically telling fighters how you want them to fight.
At what point does that cross the line? Isn’t that influencing the competition?
And if you want to release a fighter, fine. But don’t then publicly say he was “hard to deal with” or create some bullshit narrative about him that could damage his reputation and make other organizations think twice about signing him.
Release fighters if you want. Just don’t try to damage their careers on the way out

The fact NFL is No. 4 tells you how useless this comparison is in the big picture. Any list with UFC ahead of NFL is a list regarding popularity that I'd consider a worthless stat.

Tremendous example of the power boxers have over their own careers (thanks to the current Ali Act). Imagine if UFC fighters had this ability. How much different MMA could be. This is exactly why TKO/Zuffa Boxing covets the UBO model. Without that control there's no special sauce.

People will just disagree because Farid and his brother can come across as dicks, and they might have trash talked your favorite para social idol. But he's correct. The current fan base is massively ignorant and follow the sport like it's pro wrestling.
Farid Basharat accuses the UFC of cultivating a fan base that values blood and finishes over high-level fighting, warning that the approach could damage the sport’s credibility.
“I think the company, the UFC, is manufacturing a fan base that doesn't appreciate good-quality fighting. Even if it's a mismatch, even if it's a low-level fight, as long as there's blood, as long as it's a first-round finish, we're happy.
And in my opinion, you just can't build a sport off that because you might do well for a couple of years ratings-wise, but sooner or later it's going to delegitimize the sport, and the fans are going to be left wanting high-quality fights.
When I see the best against the best, for me, that's what's entertaining. But the UFC is guaranteed 7.7 billion over the next seven years, so they're clearly great at what they're doing. So what do I know?”

What a fight. Wild momentum shifts from round to round. I think Bishop got it. I don't think a 10-8 Carmouche R1 is impossible, but I suspect the judges go 10-9 and Bishop takes it 48-47.
