Andorrans still haven’t voted on the EU association agreement.
The longer the government delays, the more it looks like it fears the answer.
Yet saying No would be perfectly rational.
The EU is asking Andorra to bind itself more tightly to a system whose largest economies are visibly deteriorating.
France has just been downgraded from AA− to A+. Its debt is heading towards 120% of GDP and its interest bill keeps rising.
Production in Germany’s energy-intensive industries has fallen 15% since 2022.
Eurozone inflation is back at 3.3%, driven by a 14.3% surge in energy prices.
Diesel now approaches €3. Every increase eventually reaches consumers through transport, food and services.
Meanwhile, AI is forcing service economies to adapt faster than European politics seems capable of moving.
None of this means Europe collapses tomorrow. It means closer integration is not the safe choice it is being sold as.
Andorra does not need this agreement to “access Europe”. It’s already there.
Andorra is a safe haven in the heart of the continent, where entrepreneurs and free minds can thrive outside EU regulations.
The agreement would not give Andorra access to Europe.
It would give Europe more control over Andorra, undermining the very independence and freedom that have made the country work for the past 50 years.
Voting No would not be isolationism.
It would be common sense.
