Happy new year!
May this be a year of good health and better air quality.
Always interesting to note how terrible fireworks are for air quality, look at that spike at midnight!

If you are wondering about the pollution, it has a lot to do with these fires set by farmers to clear land. This has been a common sight on my train trip today on the Eastern Line. Either fires like this, or black fields, or ones that have recently been ploughed to hide evidence.

With the confirmation that poor air-quality also reduces cognitive functions and IQ points, will students attending schools in Thailand be judged accordingly?
Example: student that went to school in Thailand with a GPA of 3.4, adjusted to 3.7? SAT score of 1250 adjusted to 1400?

What’s going on with Chiang rai?! Chiang Mai seems much better this year. I see lots of leaves etc piled up in bags ready for collection here. Much less burning than last year so far.

The Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non National Park is charging foreigners 1,500 baht per person and Thais 950 baht for a tour of the cave's Chamber 3.
Chamber 3 was opened to the public last Friday, and there are complaints that the fee might be too expensive, as it does not include charges for safety equipment and insurance, and there are not many activities available.
Chamber 3 is approximately 800 meters from the entrance, and it is not the chamber where the 12 members of the Wild Boar football team and their coach were trapped for 18 days following a heavy downpour in 2018. The chamber where they were trapped is Chamber 9, which is 2.4 kilometers from the entrance.
The tour, lasting around two and a half hours per round, includes exhibitions of the equipment used for the rescue and a demonstration of how rescuers transported each rescued individual via a stretcher through Chamber 3.

Masterpieces of early Buddhist art @ngma_delhi
Yesterday, while giving a lecture @ngma_delhi I stumbled across an extraordinary exhibition there called Routes & Roots, originally put up to entertain G20 delegates. Its only up for ten more days and is full of masterworks from public collections across India, but hasn't been advertised at all. Don't miss it!
