Harnessing the energy from the sun is a big leap for us as humans. The beginning of us transitioning into a type II civilization :)
Google put an AI chip in orbit and asked it to write poetry.
And it worked.
The Suncatcher team sent a command from Earth, booted the satellite’s TPU, ran the prompt and received a haiku back.
I love experiments like this. Getting actual hardware into space and making it work gives you something concrete to build on. An orbital AI system sending home a little poem is a pretty memorable place to start.
What this is setting up for is Humanity being able to harness the sun’s energy for our needs.
Google just ran AI in space and almost nobody understands why this is such a big deal.
A few weeks ago, Google quietly launched a small satellite with an AI chip inside it. The same kind of chip that powers Gemini. This week, engineers on Earth sent it a simple instruction. The chip switched on, read the prompt, did the thinking up in orbit, and beamed the answer back down. The very first reply from space was a haiku.
It sounds like a cute science experiment. It isn't. It's Google's answer to the biggest problem in AI right now.
AI eats electricity. Every question typed into a chatbot runs on giant computers that need enormous amounts of power, and demand keeps exploding. Tech companies are now buying up power plants, signing nuclear deals and fighting over the electric grid just to keep up. On Earth, power for AI is becoming the bottleneck.
In space, it isn't. Up in the right orbit, a satellite sits in sunlight almost all the time. No clouds, no night, no grid. Just nonstop solar energy, for free.
So Google flipped the question. Instead of bringing more power to AI, why not send AI to where the power never runs out?
That's Project Suncatcher. Today it's one satellite and one poem. Tomorrow it could be data centers floating above us, running the AI we use every day.
Everyday thousands of incompatible newcomers are entering. Time is not on our side. I would suggest you try recruiting the high skilled well integrated ones to at least start pushing for a moratorium. Subsequent changes can follow
The beauty in her appearance is the fact that it’s natural. No make up or airbrushing. It challenges the long held unrealistic expectations of which the film industry has been feeding us. I revere her look and portrayal of Sita
Disappointing to see the abject lack of class in criticism against The Ramayana film.
Saying this as someone who wont be watching the film in theaters.
Been seeing phrases like Kaam waali bai and worse for Sai Pallavi and jobless nitpicking on anything and everything in the handful of stills that are out.
Tragedy is that there are classy and weighty reasons to remain vocally skeptical about the film. The ideological leaning of some actors and music director is more than enough a reason to criticize the film without losing one's own moral footing.
But looks like the lure of Social Media algorithms, the loudness and crassness getting incentivised has expose the inherent crassness of the so called Right wing. Hoping against hope that sense prevails sooner or later.
PS. Free Advice 1 : For your own safety, check the profile of actors and film makers. A couple of them may belong to communities where abusing them may amount to legal action.
Free Advice 2 : Restraint in words helps. But most of you wont get it. So let it be and go on with whatever gives you instantaneous high.

Yess!! If Carney can become our PM then so can Elon!
At least if Elon was PM Canada would be thriving within 2-4 years.
🇨🇦 Since Elon Musk is also Canadian…
If he ran for Prime Minister, would you vote for him?🤔 @elonmusk

Four brothers went to war against Hitler. Three died. The fourth survived, and his grandson, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is the president of Ukraine.
Zelenskyy comes from a family that fought tyrants: Trump negotiates with them while demanding concessions from their victims.

This is the story of a french astronomer, stranded after missing the Venus transit, watches a Tamil Brahmin compute the December 1768 lunar eclipse in < 45 mins with cowries and palm-leaf booklets, matching the Paris ephemerides.
In 1768, a man named Nana Moutou walked into a French astronomer's house in Pondicherry and offered to compute an eclipse in front of him.
The astronomer was Guillaume Le Gentil of the Royal Academy of Sciences, Paris. He had come to India for the 1761 transit of Venus and was stuck at sea on the day.
He waited 8 years for the next one. On 3 June 1769, a single cloud covered the Sun at the exact moment. Nearly 10,000 leagues, he wrote, just to be "spectator of a fatal cloud".
Hidden inside the same book is a story nobody tells...
Le Gentil had been in Pondicherry barely 8 days when Nana Moutou came with an interpreter. Le Gentil asked for the total lunar eclipse of December 1768.
Next morning the man returned with a packet of palm leaves and a bag of cowrie shells. He sat on the floor, moved the shells with a singular speed, kept consulting his little booklet, and gave all the phases of the eclipse in less than three quarters of an hour.
Le Gentil checked the numbers against the French Ephemerides. They matched. He gave him more eclipses. Same result.
No pen. No paper. The shells were the counters, laid out on the ground.
The rules were verses recited from memory while working, the way Europeans use formulas. Once a step was done it was wiped away. And they rarely made mistakes, he writes.
Nana Moutou agreed to teach him, under strict secrecy. 4 months of hard work, he said, if the Frenchman had the aptitude.
Lessons at 4.30 every evening. Le Gentil changed interpreters 3x and got nowhere. In the end it took him more than a month, an hour a day, to compute a lunar eclipse.
His verdict: for lunar eclipses, the error in several he calculated never went > 25 minutes.

So, let me get this straight: Canadian taxpayer funds are stolen, and corrupt actors weaponize a foreign police force to threaten legal action against those exposing the fraud?!
Stand strong @MelanieBennet_- truth is on your side, and many others and I are right here with you.
OneBC 2026 Election Statement on Immigration and Extremism
British Columbia, Canada and to an extent the wider Western world, are facing rising problems with mass migration and extremism that are changing our standard of living, our quality of life, and voters want accountability.
While the self-appointed intellectuals may snicker “This is a provincial election and immigration is a federal issue,” and no doubt the other political parties when asked about this issue will shrug their shoulders - or maybe mouth some vague words about cooperation with the federal government if they are brave - we disagree.
OneBC does not believe in deferred responsibility. If we go down this path, every issue that gets too big will be the responsibility of the federal government and any problem deemed minor will be dumped on municipal governments.
First, OneBC will make sure that British Columbia has the same provincial immigration controls that are exercised by Quebec. In this case Quebec is obviously right that the province should have more control about how many people come into their province and who exactly they are. OneBC will go one step further ensuring that any new immigrant coming to live in BC has to have an in-person interview and background check by a provincial officer.
Immigrants coming to live in the province should be able to speak English or French and be completely unaffiliated with extremist ideological movements like the IRGC, CCP, Hamas, Samidoun, Hezbollah, or Khalistan.
Second, at the start of the summer break in the legislature OneBC’s executive team created a task force to look into what can be done about illegal immigration the provincial end. While deporting all illegal immigrants may be the logical end conclusion of any immigration policy, the provincial government does not have deportation powers. We have determined that if OneBC is in the legislature and able to successfully apply pressure to the Attorney General and Auditor General we can effectively cut off all criminals and scammers from the public dollar with two good directives.
We will push the AG to do an immigration check on all criminal charges and any conviction of non-citizens will result in permanent loss of access to all public benefits. There will also be zero tolerance for all fraudsters. Anyone caught defrauding the public will also lose access to public money.
We will enable all public institutions to do immigration checks for anyone receiving public services. If you are receiving tax dollars, you should be a legal resident of this country.
While the ultimate power of removal lies with the federal government, a motivated and competent provincial government can set the conditions that make federal immigration enforcement a lot easier by provincially funding deportations.
This method of depriving public funds to harmful entities is the first step in a counter extremism approach that will bring British Columbia prosperity and restore normalcy. We have a bill ready to go that will deprive all institutions of public money if they publicly display and promote symbols of terrorism.

Captain Smit Machchhar says he chants Hanuman Chalisa, the revered Hindu devotional hymn (stotra) in praise of Lord Hanuman, composed of 40 verses (chaupais) everyday with his son during morning prayers.
The brave pilot told PM Modi that he recited Hanuman Chalisa even during the Fly Dubai mid-air cockpit emergency, He added that, “whenever in difficulty, I recite Hanuman Chalisa”.
PM Modi told him that temples in India are praying for his early recovery.
