CW investigation in Syria remains one of the defining aspects of my work in the @UN. Shows the importance of an impartial multilateral entity to negotiate, investigate, present the results. Never been more proud of my role as int’l civil servant.
#NowheretoHide is now out in Arabic, brilliantly hosted by @KaramShoumali.
Over 7 episodes, the podcast pieces together one of the worst crimes in recent history: the use of chemical weapons in the Syrian war.

It is astonishing how quickly we have memory holed the Syrian war. It quite literally shaped the world in which we now live, in a thousand ways. We’ve moved on to Ukraine and China, but we live with the consequences of that ongoing conflict every day.

Please watch our documentary. For all who ask what the Russian people are thinking. We went to Samara, Ulan-Ude, Belgorod, Krasnodar ... it's a snapshot, patriotism to despair. I have no answers. But I hope you'll watch. youtube.com/watch?v=dI5lO3J6…

Journalists: don't. stop. talking. about. Syria. The silence around my country is deafening, it has been for the last few years. People were living in the most dire of circumstances even before the earthquake.

White Helmets volunteers have been working non-stop around the clock in northwest #Syria since the #earthquake struck to pull survivors from the rubble with no international support for the search and rescue efforts.

"The UN owes the Syrian people an apology for letting them down". The head of the White Helmets @RaedAlSaleh3 said at a press conference today that UN bureaucracy and the need for Security Council approval for cross-border aid access has contributed to the loss of Syrian lives.

On this day in 1948, an all-white jury sentenced a Black woman and two of her teenage sons to death for killing an armed white man in self-defense. To overcome racial inequality, we must confront our history. calendar.eji.org/racial-inju…

Excellent news to know #BrittneyGriner is returning home -- but troubling to see Viktor Bout, "the merchant of death," released to #Putin & #PaulWhelan still illegally detained in #Russia.
Yet more evidence that the policies of hostage taking by malign actors' works.
