The NDP, who enacted UNDRIP in BC, are heading into the 3rd round of court battles arguing that UNDRIP should be kept as aspirational. The Liberal gov’t is arguing likewise back east.
The spinning, backpedaling and rhetoric is off the charts

@ellisbross MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley Ellis Ross is speaking currently at N2N 2026 Day 3. Minister Ross is speaking today about UNDRIP - the United Nations Declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples.
It's Small Business Week!
Small businesses are the backbone of our communities across Skeena—Bulkley Valley. They create jobs, support local families, and keep our rural and northern communities going.
Running a small business is no easy task, especially with rising costs and the challenges of operating in Northern BC.
This week, I want to recognize the hardworking small business owners and entrepreneurs who continue to invest in our communities.
Thank you for everything you do!
Political governance
Run up massive deficit/borrow money from international markets with no plan to pay it off; blame USA & switch to “acting” responsible by asking citizens to make sacrifices
Raise taxes/cut services, rinse and repeat
Tracey and I are keeping Trevor Flegel from Kitimat in our thoughts and prayers today.
We are wishing him a speedy and full recovery.
She’s a fighter and knows the issues of drug use from experience.
I’ve watched her work ethic and her debates in the Legislature; Skeena is well represented;
She has my full support and is who i’ll be voting for on October 24
I don’t talk about addiction as an abstract policy issue. I lived it.
At 17, I was struggling with addiction and living on the streets of Vancouver. I know what it feels like to be cold, hungry and exhausted, and still have drugs matter more than anything else. I also know there were times when I was simply not capable of making decisions in my own best interest.
But I also know what recovery can make possible.
Someone believed I was capable of more. I found purpose, went to treatment and began rebuilding my life. Today, that life is almost unrecognizable.
That’s why I will never accept that leaving people trapped in addiction is compassion.
Every person we see suffering on our streets has a story that isn’t finished yet. Sometimes compassion means intervention. It means treatment, recovery, responsibility, connection and purpose.
Keeping someone alive matters. But keeping someone alive is not enough. We need to give people a way out.
I found mine. I want every British Columbian struggling with addiction to have the opportunity to find theirs. I’ll have a lot more to say on this in the coming weeks.
I was an MLA with Lorne in 2017 and he became caucus chair. Theres no doubt in his thoughtfulness and wisdom. He’s here at the right time and he has my full support and endorsement as BC needs badly needed repairs
Former BC Liberal MLA Lorne Doerkson has been named interim leader of the BC Conservatives following Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s resignation.
Doerkson was first elected in 2020.

My opposition to UNDRIP was based on confusing the issues & redundancy. Now we have contradictory rulings from different courts & most likely ending up where i thought we started in that UNDRIP was political fluff and rhetoric. Politics, smh
Big decision with implications for Indigenous rights, Duty to Consult and the application of UNDRIP.
The Federal Court of Appeal unanimously agreed that the federal UNDA legislation to implement the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) doesn't override Canadian law until the Canadian government, in consultation and co-operation with Indigenous peoples, explicitly establishes such a process.
The Court upheld the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission's approval of a nuclear waste landfill to be built near the Ottawa River at the Chalk River laboratory. Kebaowek First Nation had previously successfully challenged that approval, but that lower Court's decision is now overturned.

As a west coast Canadian, this shocked me. I had no idea France has sovreign rights within Canada’s sovereign waters, Right beneath Newfoundland!
East Coast fishery is a question of international relations and maybe negotiations?
I am at a bit of a loss for words as to why the President of France has announced French fishing fleets will be harvesting 3,300,000 pounds of Snow crab in Canadian waters off Newfoundland. I guess his buddy says it’s okay. They just pow-wowed in Saint-Pierre 3 weeks ago or so…
Heaven Forbid a CANADIAN harvests a crab without proper documentation! We know now, to just say we are from France.
Elbows up! 🙄
Wealthy NDP using their own $10/day daycare that was meant to help struggling parents.
If the NDP Premier identifies as a “struggling” parent, BC unaffordability is worse than I thought xitter.cf/jarmstrongbc/status/21…

???? I’m pretty sure Albertans understand what prosperity is!
For 10 years, the Liberals refused to pursue prosperity & now they’re trying to blame it on Alberta?

Energy Wars in Europe/middle east putting price pressures on western countries.
Being resilient shouldn’t just mean short-term,ad-hoc reactions.
Canada has the oil, refinery knowledge and the need.
All we lack is the political will and long term vision
Ndp climate change attack ads yet they approved lng canada phase 1&2 emissions but also gave lngc pst and carbon tax breaks! Then propose raising taxes for bc”ers!
BC in a nutshell
ERs closed down, 1 million w/o a doctor, surgery wait times, forestry mills shut down, the debt-downgraded credit rating, no forest fire plan, lack of housing.
What a mess

Wishing everyone across Skeena—Bulkley Valley a Happy Thanksgiving!
I hope you all enjoy the long weekend with family, friends, and loved ones.
Have a safe and enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend!
Energy affordability in Skeena—Bulkley Valley isn't because of the natural gas cost itself.
The problem is the taxes and policies imposed by both the federal and provincial governments that drive up costs for Canadians.
