How will society determine the price of increasing the computational complexity of simulating a metaverse?
Spent some time with codex and the IntelliJ plug-in writing a toy ray tracer. Reminds me of pair programming with a very smart junior engineer. Incredible pattern matching, but (at least for this type of problem) it would quickly introduce enough complexity to confuse itself.
It strikes me as important that it was trained on “complete” code, rather than code in the process of being written.
I’m reminded of watching @paulg’s editing process in his “13 sentences” essay he wrote for us at Etherpad back in the day. The writing process early on in the essay is quite different from the later phases of editing. Codex just sees the end result…
