Massive congratulations to both Drs @Chris_R_Woodham and @elsa_field!
It was lovely to (virtually) celebrate @Chris_R_Woodham and @elsa_field's PhD viva successes! They have both done a great job finishing up their PhDs in the midst of the pandemic! Congratulations to both 🎉🎉

#Biodiveristy matters! Our new paper demonstrates that #tree species richness and diversity predicts the magnitude of urban heat island mitigation effects of #greenspaces. @catzigle @SRILeeds @SEELeeds

New research on oak processionary moth from @INRAE_NA_BDX supports the view that mixed forests are more resistant to specialist pest insects than pure stands: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Our new study out in @JEcology investigates drought-diversity effects on tree pests and pathogens 😍
Tree diversity lowers pest damage, but not under drought conditions, hmmm.....🧐

Drought lifts the protective effect of #tree #biodiversity on #oak resistance to #herbivores and #mildew in the #ORPHEEexperiment

Nice new study by @elsa_field, @BCastagneyrol et al. shows that associational resistance to both insect and pathogen damage in mixed forests is modulated by tree neighbour identity and drought @JEcology besjournals.onlinelibrary.wi…
When you finally produce the graph you've been waiting the entire 4 years of your #PhD to be able to produce, the feeling is just so good! I definitely deserve #pancakes today #PancakeDay #PancakeDay2020 #phdlife #metaanalysis

Hi all, we are still looking for scientists with interest in #Herbivory and #Predation in #Oaks to participate in our #TreeBodyguards #CitizenScience project in Belgium, Italy, Austria, Scotland and Norway. get in touch with me :)
Having mega fun and #geekingout on the awesome #rethinkandgrowrich course in #London with the inspirational @PaulOMahony. Learning, growing and expanding into 2020! #womaninbizhour #livingmybestlife

I was quite taken by this beautiful little Stigmella tityrella mine in a beech leaf this weekend. The 'green island' is caused by the caterpillar delaying senescence by manipulating cytokinin levels, probably with the assistance of symbiotic bacteria!
First chapter of my thesis got published, hoorah! How do tree identity and diversity influence oak pest and pathogen damage? Read on to find out ....

Amazing to see the successful efforts of @apriljazB and team on Aldabra. The @AldabraCleanUp team have spent the last 6 weeks clearing plastic trash from this World Heritage Site and raising awareness about plastic pollution in the world's oceans.
We did it! Over our last two days on Aldabra the whole team joined together and successfully removed the remaining trash from Aldabra and onto the UCPS vessel! We cannot thank the @SIF_Seychelles staff and coastguard team enough for all their efforts.
