We also want you to hold your head high if things haven't gone to plan.
Our cohort has top exam performers, students who applied through clearing, and people who took a gap year or a foundation year. Day One in the lecture theatre is a fresh start.

Delighted to be part of a collective rant against university league tables with @emeegray and Philip Moriarty (including my plea at 20:20 for a @DORAssessment-style initiative to rid us of these parasitic evil entities once and for all).

Agreed. I was a big fan of the way the 4th year physics course was taught and assessed at Nottingham. It shifted away from lectures and exams, to all marks being based on presentations, coursework, and small-group projects. Far better preparation for any career!

Fantastic to see this archive footage of Sir Peter Mansfield climbing into the first MRI scanner (it was a tight squeeze). Since then it has transformed medicine and helped millions of people - new video coming soon showcasing the work of @SPMIC_UoN @UoN_Physics @UoNScience
#OnThisDay 1978: Tomorrow's World gave audiences a true world first as Dr Peter Mansfield of the University of Nottingham demonstrated the first full body prototype device for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), allowing us to see inside the human body without the use of X-rays.

Professor Nina Hatch from @UoN_Physics has received almost £1 million for research to use images from the #Euclid satellite mission to search for orphaned stars in the densest regions of our Universe known as clusters of galaxies @NASA
Full story here: ow.ly/OtXW50P1j36

ALT A Hubble Space Telescope image of the galaxy cluster Abell 2744, nicknamed Pandora's Cluster. The starlight from the cluster has been artificially coloured blue. We can see faint starlight (darker blue) dispersed between the cluster galaxies (light blue). This faint light is produced by a trillion orphan stars that were stripped from cluster galaxies and now float freely between the galaxies. Credits: NASA, ESA, M. Montes (IAC), and J. Lotz, M. Mountain, A. Koekemoer, and the HFF Team (STScI)
