Yesterday’s ‘Mental Health in Higher Education’ event and book launch at @RIAdawson was one to remember.
The event was launched by Minister James Lawless @lawlessj, @DeptofFHed, who set a thoughtful and encouraging tone for the afternoon. 1/5
The evening finished with the launch of my new open access book ‘Irish University Students with Mental Health Difficulties'. I am particularly grateful to @MsetfiLab, @deirdre_desmond and @mshevlin23 who all spoke with warmth and depth about the book, its subject and impact. 4/5
I have the great privilege of hosting a seminar entitled ‘Mental Health in Higher Education: Opportunities, Challenges and Supports’ in the Royal Irish Academy on the 31st of March. With a wonderful keynote, expert panel and book launch, it’s set to be a great day. 1/2

Delighted to receive a copy of this book on “spaces of mental health and wellbeing” in the post.
The wonderful Dr Sheena Hyland and I contributed a chapter on how the university as a lived space shapes students’ experiences and understandings of distress.
You can read the full collection at the link below.
Congratulations to the editorial team 👏

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…🎅
How might Santy fit down the chimney? How fast does he need to travel? How many presents do the elves have to make? And might weather affect his journey? Tune to @RTERadio1 this Friday morning: I’ll be chatting to Claire Byrne.

Nothing like waking up on the first day of the @BirdWatchIE garden bird survey to find a sparrowhawk in the back garden.

Excellent day with scholars from Ireland, NI, Wales and Scotland considering threats and opportunities for our research and innovation ecosystem.
Thank you to Celtic Academies Alliance and @RIAdawson for hosting such a thought-provoking day.

Great evening at the launch of @YoungAcademyIrl colleague & friend Dr Fiona Smyth’s book ‘Pistols in St Paul’s’.
Excellent interview by TCD Provost @LindaDoyle offered rich insight into the book & Fiona’s interdisciplinary work in architecture, science, music & education.

Sally Rooney’s moral imagination was forged by an arts education. It’s a sector we can’t afford to neglect
Great piece from @AineMarieMahon and @darling_orlaith on the deep-seated funding crisis ongoing in our colleges and universities.
