Don't worry too much about the people being laid off from Google. Here's the severance they'll get: - 16 weeks of base pay - 2 additional weeks of pay for every year they were at Google - 16 weeks of accelerated share vesting - 6 months of healthcare

Old employer literally threw me under a bus to save themselves with one check of severance pay thinking I could just "get a job" in no time. But here I am a month later crying on the couch because nobody wants me because of them. Fuck them and fuck the unemployment system.
Was "let go" on the 1st of June. Cried for 3 weeks. Had multiple interviews and was ghosted after each one. Tried to file for unemployment. Website down. Has 1k to my name. 4 interviews later, no job. Unemployment website back up. Can't certify, have to wait a week. 1/2

Can't pull from 401k without taxes and withdrawal fee. Applying to 4+ jobs a week and networking. Unemployment determination = $200 a week. The system is fucked. I am fucked. All because my employer made a bad decision and laid of 17 of us to save themselves. 2/2
