Some responsibilities are yours alone; others we must carry together. You know the story of a man who sent his best friend to go and tell his crush in University that he loved her ? Ehe ! Neither can be subcontracted. Our forebears said it best: “No elephant finds its own trunk and tusks too heavy to bear.” And: “When spider webs unite, they can tie up a lion.” I learned early that many who urge you to fight on their behalf will vanish when trouble arrives—and develop convenient amnesia when they reach their promised land. People are human ! So fight or love because your conscience and conviction demand it, not because the crowd is applauding or egging you on. Public opinion is like British weather, it can change suddenly; character and conscience must be your compass. In politics, democracy is not a food-delivery app: you cannot skip every election, then complain that your freedom arrived cold. You are young and you decided to Party instead of exercising your right and responsibility to vote ? In business, no great company is built when everyone wants a share of the glory but treats the workload like a contagious disease. Alex Johnson said to me once , 'there are work horses and show horses' , learn to distinguish the two when you're recruiting or when managing folks. Strange, isn’t it? We rarely feel betrayed by our own apathy—only outraged that someone else failed to do what we refused to attempt ourselves. If that isn’t witchcraft, it deserves its own ministry.
