A lot of people remember Patrick Stewart as a powerhouse of a dramatic actor, and rightfully so, but the man's sense of comedic timing was also stellar. His role in L.A. Story makes me wish he did more in comedy than mostly brief cameos.

Patrick Stewart. Turned up so early and so unobtrusively to be a star in the reasonably priced car, we mistook him for a delivery driver and asked him to go round the back. Took his hat off and said, “But I’m the captain of the Enterprise”. Fucking nice guy.

“Jean-Luc, wherever you go, we go.”
This actor and this character taught me so much not only about humanity and aspirations for us as human beings but what controlled passion and focus can do to bring about positive change in this world and within ourselves.
Truly a sad day. 🕊️
Rest In Peace, Captain. 🙏

This seems like a great time to reshare my favourite Sir Patrick Stewart performance, ‘What has the ECHR ever done for us?’ It’s just perfect in every possible way … including the ending 😂😂😂 RIP.

Here’s the entirety of “I Love Patrick Stewart”, a featurette on the American Dad Volume 7 DVD, where a bunch of the American Dad cast and crew gush about how much they love Patrick Stewart for 8 minutes
And you can really that he was loved, and he loved them back

Patrick Stewart sat there smiling as Mila Kunis confessed her old Nokia ringtone was literally his voice as Captain Picard — then she started doing the impression right next to him.
He rolled with it perfectly, then matched her energy by telling the story of how everyone said TNG would be dead in six months, plus the one about actually pressing the buttons that put Concorde into supersonic.
Watching this now hits different. Rest in peace, Sir Patrick.
Jimmy's "Augh" still breaks my heart everytime. He knew he was gonna get whacked but he genuinely didn't expect to get whacked by his closest friend. He even saw Frank holding a gun but it didn't even occur to him that Frank would betray him.
They didn't go for a dramatic look of betrayal. It was quick, clean, and professional. And that made it even more upsetting.
The irony of his son preventing his first assassination attempt but then driving his dad straight to his second one lol.
I always thought about this scene. Because when Hoffa tries to leave the room, not only is he leaving because something was fishy, but he also left because he didn't wanna have to wait for anybody to show up.
His biggest mistake was being involved with guys in the mafia and having complete trust in any one of them.
Patrick Stewart died this week at 86. He once said he would never play Jean-Luc Picard again. Sixteen years after his last Star Trek film, his fans changed his mind.
In the video below, he tells a Star Trek crowd in Las Vegas why he said yes. "Jean-Luc Picard is back."
After 178 episodes of The Next Generation came four films. Later he wanted a small part in another director's film.
The director praised his work, then asked, "Why would I want Jean-Luc Picard in my movie?" Stewart decided that voyage was over and said so in public.
In 2018, an email brought an offer to return. In a room of five, he spent 20 minutes explaining why he had to say no.
Months of talks and fan letters changed that, above all one from a Las Vegas police detective. Some days, he wrote, the cruelty he saw made him despair for the future.
Then the detective would take The Next Generation off his video shelf. "I know we're gonna have a future."
Do you think an actor owes fans the role that made him, or is "never" his to keep?

Patrick Stewart once found himself joking with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr about being three knights at the same table. No grand speech, no performance. Just a moment of shared laughter.
A long career leaves behind more than great roles. It leaves moments people remember.
