Our latest systematic review is now live in @EmergencyMedBMJ. We looked at the association between intra-arrest DBP & CPP and ROSC. The data supports a move toward physiology-guided CPR, with 35mmHg DBP emerging as a potential target. @EMManchester

Our first #SPEAR course in Germany took place this weekend! On the grounds of the Mannheim medical university, 23 participants engaged in lively discussions, learning conversations and skills stations. Are you an experienced resuscitator looking for an intense masterclass?

Excellent first day at the @emtaccs Mannheim 🇩🇪 SPEAR course
Great group of candidates with lots of stimulating discussion around advanced resuscitation concepts
The first session of our #SPEAR is going strong here in Mannheim, Germany. Physiology during a cardiac arrest, is it just a worse version of normal physiology or is it really different? Do you know the right answer? #SPEAR #ecpr #resuscitation

No major changes, although it is pleasing to see (finally) the consideration of physiology-guided CPR to targets of DBP >30 mmHg and EtCO2 > 3.3 KPa in highly monitored settings by ‘expert resuscitators’
Although this is welcome, these expert resuscitators are not defined, and intra-arterial BP monitoring and bespoke resuscitation should be a standard of care to work towards - rather than an exception.
There is some fantastic work going on this area in 🇬🇧 spearheaded (pun intended!) by @EMDocJB @DrPaulRees @HaldenHB with their SPEAR (specialist percutaneous endovascular aortic resuscitation) approach which started @EastAngliAirAmb and now continued @YorkshireAirAmb in addition to collaboration across Europe with @emtaccs Further exciting things to come….!
