Recently I found about the Telegram account handle purchase scams. For those who are unfamiliar, it’s possible to purchase usernames through Fragment, there are suctions for the most popular usernames. You can get contacted randomly for your handler to be purchased.

First red flag 🚩 is that they will avoid going through the official platform. But they expect you to ask for payment upfront. You send your wallet and they put up some excuse that wallet isn’t supported. Instead, they suggest a wallet you should use (second red flag 🚩)

The trick is that these wallets don’t make it clear the transaction has been complete, thus tricking the owner into thinking that money is already in their hands. Or, they send a 0 USD transaction with a concept that is deceitful. See an example of one of these scammer wallets 🧐
