Climate change is not merely an environmental concern; it is a public health challenge that requires urgent and coordinated action.
On 21 October 2026, I participated in an engagement with Members of Parliament on Uganda’s Health National Adaptation Plan (HNAP) 2025–2030, focusing on Parliament’s role in strengthening the health sector’s preparedness and response to climate related risks.
Speaking on behalf of the Chairperson of Parliament’s Committee on Climate Change, I emphasised the need to move beyond discussions and ensure that the Plan is adequately funded, effectively implemented and subject to meaningful parliamentary oversight.
I also called for stronger collaboration between the Parliamentary Committees on Health and Climate Change, including coordinated oversight visits, regular progress reviews and clear accountability for implementation.
From floods and landslides in the Elgon sub-region to droughts and climate-sensitive disease outbreaks, the effects of climate change underscore the need to build a resilient health system that protects every Ugandan, particularly the most vulnerable.
I thank the Ministry of Health, the Parliamentary Forum on Climate Change Uganda and our development partners for facilitating this important engagement.
Our success must be measured not by the meetings we hold, but by the lives we protect and the resilience of our communities.

Politics that neglects the environment is politics that betrays the future.
@epuganda I rose and asked a question that sits heavy on my heart: “Will the environment be om the ballot in Uganda’s 2026 elections, or will it remain a speech without roots. #EP2025

Today marks the start of EP2025. I’m reflecting on last years event. I wish this year's delegates thought-provoking discussions and fruitful outcomes. Notably, the 2024 EP resolution on 100 trees per Member of Parliament was debunked, best of luck. I'll be following from afar.
