I think very few people have fully grasped how AI enables new players like us to compete in the bigger leagues without drowning in some of the costs that come with scale.
Take moderation as an example:
Our platform processes 5M+ messages a month from ~200k users. As you’d imagine, the 5M+ messages are riddled with spam, malicious actors, impersonators, and much more. We also run identify verification for users who want to message people outside their circle (simple selfie with liveness check). Roughly 30% of our users verify themselves.
Pre-AI:
- Moderation team (outsourced): we’d need 3 people. Avg salary $20k. Cost $60k
- Identity verification: 60k users x $0.17 a verification if using an external provider. Total $10.2k (+ set up fees etc. But let’s assume it’s $0)
Total cost: $70.2k
Post-AI:
- Set up 4 AI moderation agents
- Set up 1 Identity Verification agent
Total cost in 2025: $3.5k (99% of it one of the 4 AI moderation agents, a super light model that reviews all messages)
That’s a 95%+ reduction in costs. And no hiring process, sick days, holidays or employee onboarding. I can fine tune models at 3am and they are ready to go at 3.01am.

Terrible payroll numbers today. The Fed's only goal right now is to keep Americans in the job market - with no regard for inflation (already way above target).
Expect more cuts and rampant inflation as a result - great time to own assets.
This will run until inflation gets so bad we'll think we're reading Venezuela's CPI, at which point we'll have a sharp reversal and we'll all be left screaming for our mummies.
