Transferring US Treasury Notes from the U.S. to custodial accounts is more dangerous than dumping, as the custodians, which benefit from holding these notes, becomes subject to the leverage China might exercise against these countries in the event of a major political fallout.
Is China hiding its true exposure to US Treasuries? China’s Treasury holdings fell -$27 billion in August, to $591 billion, their lowest level since August 2008. At the same time, Canada’s holdings of US Treasuries jumped +$38 billion in August, to $465 billion, their 3rd-highest on record. Since the beginning of 2019, Canada’s holdings have surged +$369 billion, or +384%, while China’s have declined -$534 billion, or -48%. This divergence may partly reflect China moving its US securities to foreign custodians, making its actual exposure to American debt appear smaller and creating the impression of faster financial decoupling from the US Dollar. Meanwhile, Belgium and Luxembourg, widely believed to hold some Chinese Treasury assets through custodial accounts, increased their Treasury holdings by +$20 billion and +$6 billion in August, to all-time highs of $491 billion and $448 billion, respectively. China’s diversification away from the US Dollar may be slower than it appears.

Europeanization of US Treasury Notes or dollar denominated bonds China generates is a seriously dangerous extension of China's policy, as China can do to Europe what it has done to Africa, forcing these countries to sell U.S. debt for Chinese debt.

Yields were not responsible for the sudden fall in prices on precious metals. The rise in yields caused a wave of variation margin calls that triggered a liquidity crisis, just like I said. In response to the liquidity crisis, investors sold their most liquid asset : precious metals. All in less than four hours of New York trading. Contagion is spreading with the 10 Y US Treasury Note at 5.30%.
Yields on US Treasury Notes are not responsible for the drop in the price of gold. Yields were rising last week but gold rose. It is more than likely a tailwind from the high cost of oil causing a new wave in the ever ensuing liquidity crisis. China, however, buys on the dip. Unless or until China does not (or any of the major central banks for that matter), gold will rise.

France's youth have the power to overthrow Macron in Paris, as they did on October 17th both in Paris as well as Marseille where the following video was recorded (Citadelle de Marseille). These scenes demonstrate the power of collective action.

Is it the case that China has begun to apply the IMF's methods (which were applied to Japan, South Korean & Malaysia) to Africa? Who would have thought? China becomes a miniaturized IMF. While I investigated the Chinese loan sharking claim previously, I found no evidence.
Newly revealed #ChinaCapital documents show how Chinese lenders, working with Chinese contractors in Zambia, piled loans onto the country and its ailing state-owned enterprises and then adopted a hardball stance when it came time to repay. Read the story: buff.ly/tonsYkl

Joel Salatin has demonstrated that subsidies for farmers are unnecessary. His demonstration is scientific. If a scientific demonstration provides for no subsidies, there should be none. It is pure logic.
With Trump's additional $8 billion diesel relief package the government is on pace to pay farmers $55.4 billion in 2026, shattering the record $45 billion farmers got during COVID in 2020. It's not right for the government to take money from non-farmers and give it to farmers.

THE EUROPEAN BOND PANIC: Why French Debt Just Blew Out 32 Points! youtu.be/Qlsl2nZkuNA?si=If3M… via @YouTube The momentum for yields to fall from 5.00 to 4.96, four basis points, couldn’t have come a sudden European capital flight to for two reasons: 1) the dropped 34 b/p earlier.

2) The second is that trading one 5.00 SSA for another 5.00 defies logic. It is circuitous. France’s 10 Year rose to 5.00 recently.

Gold stocks have rarely been this oversold. ~92% of stocks in the gold miners ETF, $GDX, are now trading below their 50-day moving average, the highest proportion since late July. This figure has risen +80 percentage points in just 21 sessions. Furthermore, 90% of stocks in $GDX are trading below their 200-day moving average, the highest proportion in 3 months. Similar setups occurred in March 2024 and December 2024. In the following month, $GDX rallied +21.5% and +15.4%, respectively. History suggests the selloff in gold miners is nearing exhaustion.

Health insurance is an unaffordable disaster. Democrats gave us the ACA which dramatically caused health insurance to rise, BUT Republicans have not even attempted to fix it with full control of the government. But they tell you vote for R’s to stop Medicare for All, yet take no action to fix it.
BREAKING: The average cost of a family’s annual health insurance premium in the US is up +$1,303 YoY, or +5%, to a record $28,303. This marks the 4th consecutive annual increase of at least +$1,300. Over this period, the average annual premium for family coverage has surged +$5,884, or +26%. To put this into perspective, CPI inflation has risen +13% over the same period, or half as much. Since 1999, the average health insurance premium for a family has soared +$22,494, or +387%. This represents an average annual growth rate of +6.1%, well above CPI inflation at +2.6% over the same period. Health insurance has never been more expensive.

The Great Financial Crisis Returns to Haunt the US Financial System as the Greatest Financial Crisis of the Millennium ; forthcoming... The symptoms from 2008 in 2026 far outweigh the conjectural coincidences from March 2020.

By comparison, the post-2008 Financial Crisis peak was ~10.8% but now the delinquency rate for CMBS is 12.0%, the second highest on record. The Great Financial Crisis of 2008 haunts the US financial system.

Rand Corp's findings confirm my analysis that the 2008 GFC crisis is haunting the U.S. economy, as bank stocks are falling and the Fed is hiking rates. "Last time those two happened together, it ended in 2008."
