A walk up Tom A Choinnich (Glen Affric) with @erichens11 & @TommySaunders19 gave stunning panoramic views, 15 Ptarmigans, 3 Ring Ouzels and most surprisingly, 3 Twite. Superb! Lots of bird ringing in our garden today too 😄

An excellent six days searching for a variety of butterflies in Bulgaria. Despite a heatwave with some days experiencing 40+ Celsius, we still managed 70 species... the search for a Cynthia's Fritillary continues, however; maybe a third time lucky.

Unusually cool and wet weather on my @naturetrektours trip to the Vercors 🇫🇷 but the flora is certainly delivering, particularly orchids (my favourite, the Drome ophrys) and gentians. Large-flowered Butterwort was a treat today!

A decent day, finishing with a swift half in Kendal after seeing the Hooded Merganser. The Stejneger’s, White-winged & Surf Scoters were easy enough at Largo Bay mid-morning. Nearly came home with this cheeky lad too.
