Some athletes say they put in work while others prove the work has been done. Just made different!

Sitting out the 1st 7 games as a senior due to CIF transfer rules after making a move to Folsom for non-football reasons tested his resilience and mental toughness. Despite joining an already stacked backfield, he embraced the challenge with humility and gratitude, thankful for the opportunity to play for two outstanding high school programs and learn from exceptional coaching staffs. Yet he remained committed to his training and academics, maintaining a 3.9gpa and graduating midterm, He willingly played whatever role was needed, contributing selflessly in any capacity. Entering the preseason, he was ranked as a top-five RB in the area. So to watch his senior year be limited by circumstance was tough to watch especially when the expectations he placed on himself were so high that even he allowed doubt to enter his mind but his numbers over the past couple years speak for themselves with 45 TD's averaging a TD every 7th carry. As a coach and dad, I didn’t make it easy on him. I pushed him into adversity, believing it would shape him into the most effective, dynamic player he could be and a belief that he had the potential to be the best back in the league. His vision, footwork, low center of gravity, and instinctive ability to slip tackles or hit with power are rare. Remarkably, despite years of carrying the ball, he has never once fumbled. While many have called him electric and exciting to watch, which is nice to hear but not what makes me proud. It isn’t his ability to carry the rock that I'm impressed by. It’s the man he’s becoming that makes me proud. Any team fortunate enough to pick him up will gain a player whose work ethic is unmatched and whose value extends far beyond the gridiron.

1st 3 carries of the season. Not too bad for being Folsom’s 5th string RB.

The image below was intended to be a short message but became slightly larger than expected or intended it to be. Great season but business left unfinished. I look forward to next year’s section showdown! – at El Dorado Hills, CA
