If you want to know what ivory-tower feminism is have a read of Bindels review that shouts down and rides roughshod over the lived experience of a sex worker (me) after I've endeavoured to encapsulate what I've learned working many years in an industry noone wants to talk about.

Isn't it time to let sex workers with lived experience, who can express and articulate what they need to access safety and justice, to join the conversation? What kind of feminism shuts down, belittles and silences other women who don't sign up to received narratives?

Criminalisation isn't working. It didn't work for abortion. It didn't work for homosexuality. It didn't work for alcohol. It didn't win the war on drugs. Criminalisation creates criminal marketplaces - this is where violence and coercion occurs.

Eesh. There is so much to unpack here. Editorial decisions made by @bbc5live were horrible. Make no mistake here that @NotBuyingItShef are a hate group whose views are not evidence based. Criminalising sex work CREATES HARM. Skip to 38.00 min. bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000vq…

I doubt Janice Turner has ever met or spoken to a lapdancer in her life. This is exactly the kind of sneering, disparaging tone that mainstream feminists use to discuss strippers. "Useful idiots". Nice one @VictoriaPeckham enjoy your Murdochian salary.

Yes, well. Grinding on crotches is maybe weird physical labour but what about the money earned? The refusal to look at how poor job-options are for most women is some kind of mental illness.

I'd say this is our very best podcast so far from this year's Edinburgh Festival. Hosted by @Copstick , and featuring Crystal @TomGlitter, Morag and Stacey Clare (Ask a Stripper), and @ayeshahazarika . Utterly fascinating chat. soundcloud.com/stephen-5-1/s…

Just saw @jayjaylaffs on Fringe Benefits with @SusanCalman on @BBCFOUR shame too see a female comedian using a mainstream platform to make jokes about prostitutes. Turning sex workers into literal jokes is degrading and dehumanising. #objectificationmuch #sexworkisnotapunchline
