The National African Studentsβ Association (NASA) has called on the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) to align tuition payments with the actual approved costs of academic programmes, warning that funding shortfalls could leave students struggling with unpaid fees and academic disruption.
In a statement dated 29 October, Nasa said courses involving laboratories, specialised equipment, technical resources and practical training often carry higher costs that should be reflected in funding allocations.
The association urged Nsfaf to review discrepancies between institutional tuition fees and funding allocations, improve communication with higher learning institutions and ensure greater transparency in calculating and disbursing financial assistance.
Nasa warned that students should not be forced to abandon their studies, accumulate unaffordable debt or face academic exclusion because their funding does not adequately cover tuition costs.
The association acknowledged the need for responsible financial management but called for a sustainable funding model that protects eligible students and supports their academic progress.

A teacher at Ontoko Combined School was allegedly tied up and abducted during a robbery in Epalela Location, Onesi Constituency, Omusati region, in the early hours of Thursday.
The suspects fled with her brand-new Suzuki Fronx.
Omusati police regional commander Commissioner Ismael Basson said Alina Uugwanga was attacked between 02:30 and 03:00 by at least two unknown men who broke into her room and demanded her vehicle keys and money.
A message circulated among colleagues at about 04:18 appealed for help, reporting that a female colleague had just been robbed of her vehicle in Epalela Location.
The message identified the vehicle as a 2026 Suzuki Fronx with registration number N48510SH.
The suspects allegedly tied Uugwangaβs hands, covered her mouth and forced her into the vehicle before dropping her off at Omindamba Village.
They then drove towards Ruacana before branching off towards the border.
βThe suspects are believed to have crossed into Angola through the Omakuva area on the Namibian side and proceeded towards Efidi in Cunene Province with the stolen vehicle,β Basson said.
He has appealed to members of the public to provide information that could help trace the stolen vehicle.

A routine check-up changed everything. ππ«
A 5-year-old child was diagnosed with restrictive cardiomyopathy β a rare condition where the heart becomes stiff and cannot fill properly.
It can lead to heart failure. In advanced cases, a heart transplant may be the only definitive option.
Early diagnosis matters. π©Ί
