In the process of research into a lesser-known part of the Club's story I recently had the incredible joy of playing the original 12-Hole Open routing with my James Braid Hickory set (& Bunnet). So much Open history and Old Tom Morris strategy brought to life. Eternally grateful.

Absolutely - to our knowledge, at SGH, Colt was accountable to Tarrant alone. He provided the funds, but no input nor direction. This is unbridled Colt at the height of his powers.

Somebody once described Royal Worlington to us as playing golf in your grandmother's house. It was a compliment, and it's about the best description of the place we've heard. From the wonky photo frames to the patio flooring, there's so much to love. Not least the fact that not every Club Captain gets his photo on the wall; only those deemed worthy. Just a few of the reasons it's one of our favourite clubhouses anywhere.
