Transsion, the Shenzhen-based company behind TECNO, Infinix, and itel, has raised approximately US$390Mn in its Hong Kong IPO, adding a second stock market listing alongside its existing presence on Shanghai's STAR Market. The company sold approximately 86.6 million shares at US$4.50 apiece, attracting US$159Mn in commitments from cornerstone investors, including Singapore's GIC, E Fund, Millennium, and Longsys. Transsion plans to allocate 40% of its net proceeds toward AI research and development. The listing also carries a Bangladesh connection. Arif Chowdhury, a co-founder and Executive Director of Transsion, is of Bangladeshi origin, according to China Daily and Caixin. The company operates a US$22Mn manufacturing facility in Narayanganj, capable of producing one million smartphones per month. Transsion's Hong Kong debut comes amid renewed scrutiny of investor appetite for listings beyond the AI supply chain. The company reported a 21.9% increase in first-half 2026 revenue to US$5.2Bn, following a 53.5% decline in annual profit in 2025. The transaction brings together emerging-market smartphone demand, international capital, and Transsion's next phase of investment in AI. Read the full story: exitstack.co/posts/transsion…

AI data centers need round-the-clock power. Microreactors are one way to supply it: small nuclear units built in a factory and installed next to the data center. @AaloAtomics 's Aalo-X test reactor reached criticality at Idaho National Laboratory on July 4, less than eight months after groundbreaking. Aalo was the fourth company to reach criticality under the US Department of Energy’s (@ENERGY) Reactor Pilot Program, which had set July 4 as its target. AI infrastructure company Crusoe plans to use Aalo power for a data center at INL in 2027. Raised in Bangladesh, Yasir Arafat (@yasir_fission ),co-founder, CTO and president of Aalo Atomics, has worked on microreactors since 2014. He helped sketch Westinghouse’s eVinci and was chief designer of INL’s MARVEL. “Aalo” is Bengali for light. What does the milestone mean? Why does it matter? Read: exitstack.co/posts/aalo-atom…

Bangladesh is putting US$33Mn into a fund that backs other funds. @StartupBangladesh (@startupbdltdvc ) began operations of the Bangladesh Fund of Funds on August 16 — capital that flows through professional venture capital fund managers, not directly into startups.
