Brilliant Labs Halo support is now in preview in Extentos. Apps using the vendor-neutral SDK can target Halo without rebuilding their smart-glasses experience. Implemented against Brilliant’s public SDK and documentation. Halo is available to order now, but no reliable delivery date is currently published. Real-hardware verification will follow once a unit is delivered.

Extentos can now run real-time models locally on the end user’s phone, removing cloud inference costs for the developer. These are full conversational voice systems, not simply text LLMs running locally: live audio in, spoken audio out, with Extentos handling turn-taking, interruption and the surrounding real-time voice runtime. Developers can select a local model from the dashboard or enable Auto Router. It checks the available RAM on the end user’s phone, selects a sufficiently capable local model and falls back to the cloud when the device cannot run one reliably. This is not a one-off feature. Local real-time model support will be an ongoing part of Extentos. As on-device models improve, we will add better options and continuously improve the model harness, routing, latency and conversation quality.

Android XR support is now in preview in Extentos. One vendor-neutral integration now targets Meta and Android XR. No second integration. Verified end to end in Google’s official Android XR emulator. Hardware verification will follow when the first Android XR glasses launch this fall.

The best app store for smart glasses is the one that already exists: the iOS App Store and Google Play. Glasses apps are just your phone apps, with glasses features added. Distribution's already solved. Thanks to AR Insider for publishing my piece.

Extentos is back — and it's a different product. Old Extentos: an AI agent that built smart glasses apps for you. New Extentos: a smart glasses development platform. Add our MCP to your coding agent — Claude Code, Cursor, whatever — and it builds glasses support into any Android app. Existing or new. iOS soon. Multi-vendor by design. Meta Ray-Bans today. Early, rough edges. Building something? DMs open.

I’m building Extentos for the smart glasses ecosystem. The first MVP is live today for Meta glasses. You can already build standalone apps using the currently available Meta glasses capabilities. It’s early, imperfect, and distribution is still limited — but it works. I’m building early because I think the best builders in this space will start learning and experimenting before the ecosystem fully opens up. If you want to get deep in smart glasses early, I’d love your feedback. extentos.com from one prompt ⬇️
