Been working on a dragon you can facetime. It's called DRAGON TIME. Dragon likes to challenge kids. But likes meeting grownups and elderly too. Opening up a signup for playtesting. Summon dragon here 👇

Is anyone building the personality layer for robots? Our facetime dragon is becoming the crucible for solving a lot of real-time social ergonomics problems. The WHAT a character says is well-trodden and easily mimicked; it’s HOW a character carries itself over the convo, how it modulates its own personality in relation to the user’s demands on it (timing, status, expectations, assertiveness, model of progress, attentional priority, etc) that is under explored and a bit hard to appreciate until you ditch turn-based chat paradigm and go real-time full chaos.

Fundamentally intelligence is about: 1 - Ability to map the world or problem into an abstract navigable, updatable & flexible representation. 2 - Extract generalizable rules that govern a given space given few examples. 3 - Solve novel problems by navigating that space.
Fei-Fei Li (@drfeifei) on limitations of LLMs. "There's no language out there in nature. You don't go out in nature and there's words written in the sky for you.. There is a 3D world that follows laws of physics." Language is purely generated signal.

What if the mind is an arena for both local evolved consciousness AND teleoperation? In times of trouble, teleoperator comes to me. Jaynes thought so. Jung thought so. Tesla, Waymo do so. Low frequency minds filter out the teleoperator's guidance. High frequency minds actively tune to their teleoperator’s channel. What's less ridiculous: the human mind is evolved to generate inspired solutions under duress? Or a higher dimensional intelligence streams low effort low cost high impact guidance to human mind under duress? What surprises me is that BOTH seem ridiculous when I type it. I've started to wonder which is less ridiculous. I see with my own kids how a small suggestion unlocks so much for them to then do themselves. A universe scale version of this is, if nothing else, more entertaining than not.

Those who intuit something is lacking in LLMs struggle to pinpoint the gap beyond inadequate metaphors like “stochastic parrot” or “glorified autocomplete.” What you’re groping for is fractured entangled representation (FER). That’s the concrete crux of your slippery intuitions. It’s why these models can keep improving in dramatic and genuinely nontrivial ways yet still suffer from an underlying sickness. It’s where real opportunity and hope lie for revolutionary progress, Representation is at the heart of thought, of creativity, and indeed of intelligence itself. It is possible to “know” an unfathomable amount and yet still represent it poorly. And it’s possible for representation to be better. And it will ultimately happen one way or another.

Intelligence isn't a collection of skills. It's the efficiency with which you acquire and deploy new skills. It's an efficiency ratio. And that's why benchmark scores can be very misleading about the actual intelligence of AI systems.

In Dialogue: The Guggenheim Collection Step into the simulated worlds of Ian Cheng as he reflects on identity, evolution, and storytelling through technology. In this conversation, Cheng delves into Life After BOB, a thought-provoking animated saga that blurs the boundaries between AI, parenting, and personal growth. Join Noam Segal, LG Electronics Associate Curator, as she explores with Cheng how narrative systems and virtual avatars can shape who we are—and who we might become. 🎥✨ Watch the full conversation now on the Guggenheim’s YouTube channel! #InDialogue #GuggenheimCollection #IanCheng #LifeAfterBOB #DigitalArt

What if… Nolan's Odyssey adaptation reframes the meddling greek gods as various humanoid extraterrestrials zookeeping over a barbaric mankind still yet to mature in consciousness. Odysseus becomes the subject of fascination for these ETs due to his demonstrations of conscious will + introspection against horrible earthly struggles. Basically, The Odyssey (2026): an act of digestible mythic disclosure.
