The world is still shit, but I'm gonna go run too fast for 3.1 miles, to the point where every breath burns and my legs won't turn over and my stomach heaves when I cross the finish line.
It won't make the world better, but it reminds me that I don't give up just cuz it hurts.
Ok, lots of emotions running high right now leading to people saying things that are wrong. So:
1. Fic writers have copyright over our works. Not over the IP, but THE INDIVIDUAL STORIES. If someone takes MY fic and posts it online claiming it's theirs, I can demand its removal.

as an author i do understand why an author might feel this way, but i also feel like this is a fundamental disconnect with fandom culture that's a little bit tied to preferring kudos over participating in a community, bc this is the oldest and most original form of fic sharing

This person is talking out of their ass with no actual knowledge of the situation. Ao3 has always been transparent about things, they've said no data is lost, and patching security fixes takes time.
I don't like the downtime either, but like a wise person once said:
Don't Panic.
